edition No.11 what’s on for autumn 2021 Tips for buying from the organics section at the Market By Erin Rhoads Queen Vic Market Sustainability Ambassador @therogueginger I like to prepare for the coming months by buying extra organics and stocking up my pantry. A great tip is to check the ‘bargain boxes’ at each of the organic stalls for left over summer produce that can be bottled and eaten when you’re craving a taste of sunshine. Also making the most of bulk foods like organic and biodynamic lentils, chickpeas, beans and a range of oats, rice and flours will help see you through the soup and porridge season. Explore the organic section of the Market in I Shed. More at qvm.com.au/blog Market renewal milestones Significant progress has been made on key market renewal projects including the on-site restoration of the heritage sheds with J to M sheds now returned to their former glory. Staged works are currently taking place across Sheds C and D, with all 12 open-air sheds to be restored by the end of 2022. Construction of the city’s largest new community hub and market car parking at the Munro site continues to make steady progress. The new 500-space customer car park on the corner of Therry and Queen streets is on track for delivery mid-year. More information at melbourne.vic.gov.au/qvmrenewal
