Canvas is a web based Learning Management System

• Teachers can:
    • Create and store assignments, lesson activities, audio and video
      content.
    • Collaborate with other teachers and students in their class
    • Send individual, group, and course‐wide messages to students and
      parents who can also subscribe to receive immediate notification on
      parents,
      events like grade or due date changes.
    • Assess student work

    • Create content, collaborate on projects, participate in discussions
    • Communicate safely with teachers, collaborate on work with other
      students

What has been done since we last presented to the
                        BOE?

             Deliver Innovative and Enabling Technologies
• Contracts negotiated   and signed

• Phase I implemented (early adopters)
   • Collaborative work by Learning Services, IT and Canvas staff
   • Integration with Infinite Campus.
   • Training for over 200 teachers performed by IT and other district
      teachers.
   • System available on the first day of the 2012‐2013 school year for
      classroom use.

Security
