Thank you to parents for dropping off students at the gate rather than coming into the school grounds unless necessary. Thank you for your support and the time you have taken to set your children up for success at school. We look forward to having parents back on site as soon as the COVID restrictions allow it. Until then, please remember to keep and eye out for DOJO messages and the newsletter as we’ll endeavour to keep you up to date with any changes. We have our camp happening towards the end of this term! Notes have come home this week outlining costs, activities and behavioural expectations. It is important that students make choices at school that show they can be safe, be kind and work hard as well as listen to and follow instructions. We’ll be busy on camp moving between activities and locations and it’s important that students on camp get the opportunity to engage in these activities. The behaviour expectations on camp are no different to what is expected at school. Please take some time to speak to your child about the Behaviour Expectations form, sign it and return it to school. I am hopeful that all Yr 2-7 students will be able to attend camp. If there are any concerns, we will contact the individual student’s family. When parents are able to come back onto school grounds, we are hoping to invite everyone to the opening of our Harmony Garden. Over the last two years, students have worked on designs and been See more art on page 2 involved in applying for funding. We have been successful in accessing a $500 grant and there has been a lot of work going on in the garden. At the moment we are painting bench seats and planting in the area. Leanne and Brenton are working with students during Soft Start and lunchtimes so that everyone is involved in creating the DIARY DATES Harmony Garden area. It’s looking impressive so far! Monday 23rd August Kind regards, STUDENT FREE DAY Faye North Tuesday 24th August Bookweek Parade Wednesday 1st Sept CHOIR Performance Student Absences Please continue to notify the school of any planned or unplanned absences. Our 2021 Attendance target is 95% or greater
Yr 4-7 ART As part of our Pop Art Unit the UP Class have been learning about art appreciation, colour and shape theory and various art techniques. Last Friday our task was to create a Warhol inspired Still Life. The class did an amazing job of choosing an appropriate image, sketching and shading the image and then using torn paper and contact to colour the pictures. The brief was to choose colours thoughtfully from the colour wheel and to be able to explain the Andy Warhol choices (complementary, contrasting etc.) The big reveal of the art pieces when the students turned the contact over to see what the art piece looked like was fantastic, the students were rightfully very proud of these creative final products.
Jeans for Genes Day! Jeans for Genes Day - It was great to see so much denim & blue in our school last Friday! Each day last week we learnt about a different childhood genetic disease or disorder. What some kids have to deal with is truly heartbreaking. Thanks to everyone who helped raise money to help support children with these life altering genetic disorders. Well done Moorook Primary School!! Book Week 2021 We will be celebrating Book Week in Week 6. Our annual dress-up parade will be on Tuesday 24th August. The theme is: “OLD WORLDS, NEW WORLDS, OTHER WORLDS” Old World—Old fashioned clothing from times gone by...? New Worlds— Something to do with the future, space, cyber space...? Other Worlds—Characters from stories who venture into make believe places... Alice in Wonderland, Harry Potter, Peter Pan….? Dressing up as a favourite book character is fine also.
