“Dragon´s quest“ EVS is a short-term 15 day long EVS from 18.7. – 1.8.2018., placed in a small village Tomin Gaj in mountainous rural region of Lika in Croatia, gathering 16 young volunteers from 4 different countries – Slovakia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Bulgaria. This volunteer project is coordinated by Outward Bound Croatia, OBC - organization active all around Croatia, in cooperation with the local community of Gračac and surrounding areas. Main focus of "Dragon's quest EVS" is a 5-day „Dragon´s quest“ festival (26. – 30.7.2018.) of creativity, arts and crafts, that is an initiative of the local community and local small NGO "Vilin dol“.
ABOUT VOLUNTEERING FOOD (3 MEALS A DAY – VOLUNTEERS COOK THEMSELVES), ACCOMODATION (TENTS IN A CAMP) AND POCKET MONEY (75 EUROS) ARE PROVIDED 10 DAYS ARE WORKING DAYS, 4 DAYS ARE FREE DAYS VOLUNTEERS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP: creativity, cultural awareness and expression, sense of initiative and active citizenship awareness of the environment and sustainable living (volunteers will live in an outdoor camp, sleep in tents, cook outdoors and spend full 2 weeks in the nature) practice English (working language) but also learn Croatian in informal way learn about Croatian culture, language and local community learn about the Erasmus+ program and Erasmus+ youth opportunities (EVS and European solidarity corps) get empowered and motivated to involve as volunteers again, on local level back home or in another country.
WHY JOIN EVS? Practice communication and language skills Improve social and civic competences and personal skills (adapt to new situations, team work, organizational and time management skills, responsibility and tolerance) Develop digital skills (photo and video documentation of the project, creting the video of the project) get to know the beautiful Croatia in summer
VOLUNTEER`S TASKS Contribute to local community , help the realization of the festival (26. - 30.7.2018.). Arrive 8 days before the beginning of the festival to help in preparation, during the festival in the organization team and after the festival help in closing and evaluations. Help in cleaning the area, the visitors’ camp, setting up the locals stands (food, art works, traditional handicrafts etc.). Promote the festival in the local community . Help on workshops with kids. Deliver some workshops and/or presentations during the festival . Help with welcoming and supporting visitors (Festival will gather up to 300 visitors) showing the locations, the program, and leading activities. Photo and video documentation of the project

PRACTICAL INFO • Volunteers age 18-30 (both genders equally represented). • No specific language support (project coordinator and staff will help in translations and support regarding language) • Pocket money and free days are agreed in the beginning of EVS • Local transport will be provided with organization's vehicle • All volunteers coming from EU member states, will be instructed to obtain their European Health Insurance Card and take it with them. The sending organizations are CIGNA insurance system’s enrolling responsible.
• Volunteers organize their travel with support of their sending organizations and OBC – coordinating and hosting organization TRAVEL • Volunteers buy the tickets themselves and will later be refunded INFO latest till 31.10.2018. in the amount of ticket prices (maximum 180 EUR for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Slovakia, and max 275 EUR for Bulgaria) • Volunteers travel to Gračac by public transportation, from there with the organization's vehicle to the project venue, Tomin gaj, where there is no public transportation to.
ACCOMODATION The volunteers will be accommodated in camp - tents, kitchen and toilet facilities will be provided in the camp. Volunteers will be provided with groceries that they will prepare themselves During the festival food will be provided as it will be all day engagement and cooked meals will be provided.
