Unique Practical and Applied Arts (PAA) Programming at WMCI • Skilled Trades of Construction (STOC) Program • 2 credits - PAA 20 & 30 • Students in Grades 11 and 12 • Certifications they receive: • WHMIS • Saskatchewan Construction Orientation Training (SCOT) • Fall Arrest https://www.spsd.sk.ca/school/waltermurray/ProgramsServices/stoc/Pages/default.aspx#/=
Unique PAA Programming in SPSD Mount Royal Collegiate • offers an extensive PAA selection as well, including: Cosmetology and the High School Carpentry Program (HCAP). • HCAP is a division wide program in which grade eleven and twelve students can earn 6 high school credits, apprenticeship hours and industry recognized certifications: • including: SCOT, Powder Actuation, CPR-First Aid, Forklift, WHMIS, Fall Protection, ICF Block & Tours. • Students earn 600 hours + 300 hours through SYA towards a Journeyperson's status in the carpentry trade. • Student apprentices learn about concrete foundation formation, concrete finishing, framing, roofing, plumbing, tile setting, carpentry, electrical, dry walling, plastering, insulating, glass working, painting and landscaping. • Students are enrolled in a full-time capacity from schools around the system. https://www.spsd.sk.ca/school/mountroyal/programs/HCAP/Pages/default.aspx#/=

Grade 11 and 12 students experience six weeks of hands-on employment in the construction, manufacturing, information and communication technology, automotive, and tourism sectors. Women in Skilled Trades The Women in Skilled Trades webinar series introduces women and girls to career opportunities in skilled trades. The free webinars feature inspiring speakers and are open to students, educators and parents. A shareable promotional flyer can be found here.
