APRIL 2021 Happy Spring! April is Earth Month! During this month, students will be thinking and doing all things GREEN. TURTLE AT THE POND – Ms. Shnayderman’s Class, K1 This art was inspired by a poem that the class read called “My Little Turtle”. Students could colour the turtle and make it look fictional (e.g., coloured stripes, rainbow polka dots) or non-fictional (e.g., colour it green and brown). Students used markers, crayons and pencil crayons to colour their turtles. By cutting and stapling the shell, it became 3D. We learned about the pond habitat of turtles such as the dragonflies that live there and the lily pads that grow there. Students then sketched a pond, coloured with pastels and painted with water colours to complete the picture. Ali Egnatious Eiden Gabriel
CIRCLE ART – Ms. Shnayderman’s Class, K1 Students used a variety of circle objects (e.g., tape roll, lids) to trace and cut out circles from coloured construction paper. They glued the circles on white construction paper and used different sizes of circle shapes to trace them with black pastel. Students then painted with water colours. Finally, they dipped paper towel rolls in black paint and stamped circles everywhere! Brianna Mazin Zuruthika Mirunan
