Bayes Coachlines Annual Christmas Tour 2020 Napier & Gisborne SIX DAY CHRISTMAS TOUR 23 - 28 December 2020 We are excited to bring you another of our great “Bayes Christmas tours” for 2020. This year we are off to explore the sunny East Coast to experience the tastes, culture, history and scenery of Napier & Gisborne on this magnificent 5 night 6 day tour.
DAY ONE – Welcome aboard! Wednesday 23 December After our convenient pick up service from your home or a central meeting point, we start our epic Christmas journey and head South over the Bombays. We will make a stop for morning tea where we can get to know each other and enjoy stretching the legs. Our next stop is the Huka Falls. You will be mesmerised by the thundering rapids as nearly a million litres of water travel through the gorge and down the 11m waterfall. Lunch today will be at nearby Taupo where you can enjoy a bite to eat and some free time. Then we head along the Napier-Taupo road, enjoying some stunning scenery as we descend into Napier. On arrival we will check into our waterfront hotel for the next 4 nights, Scenic Te Pania, with time to relax before dinner. D DAY TWO – Explore local highlights Thursday 24 December Today we explore some of Napier’s most famous attractions and enjoy the atmosphere and history of this interesting town. We start our adventure with a visit to the Old Napier Prison. Constructed in 1862 and used until the early 1990’s you can enjoy a fun and interesting guided tour to learn about the history of the buildings & prison life. Next we visit one of Napier’s best known attractions, the Napier Aquarium, stretched along the famous Marine Parade like a massive stingray. This is home to a wide range of saltwater, freshwater and land exhibits from NZ and around the world. Enjoy free time to explore the aquarium at your own pace or pick up some light refreshments from their on-site cafe. This afternoon we will make a stop at Silky Oaks Chocolates where you can explore the shop, view the chocolate making process and even take a wander through the chocolate museum. We then head back to the hotel where you can enjoy some free time exploring the town or just relax before dinner. B.D

An opportunity will be given for all those who would like to attend church in the morning (your driver will arrange this at your request). A light lunch will be provided. The afternoon can then be spent relaxing, or you can join the coach on a short afternoon drive around the region. We will then head back to the hotel and prepare to share in our Christmas feast this evening. B.L.D DAY FOUR – Gannet & Art Deco adventure Saturday 26 December Today after a leisurely start, we will take you on a unique wildlife encounter, a visit to the world’s largest Gannet colony. Enjoy a 3-hour guided safari overland to Cape Kidnappers where you will come face to face with these large winged sea birds in a thriving environment. After our ‘encounter’ we head to the Art Deco Trust where we enjoy a guided walking tour of the city to learn about the fascinating heritage captivated by the story of the city’s rebirth after the devastating earthquake in 1931. From here we will make our way back to our hotel for the evening and to relax before dinner. B.D
