OUTREACH The School of the Arts (SOTA) is Singapore’s first national pre-tertiary specialised arts school with a six-year integrated arts and academic curriculum, EVENTS leading to the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma or Career-related Programme, for youths aged 13-18 years old. Under the ambit of the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY), SOTA offers a dedicated development path for those who have interest and show early talent in the arts, providing a learning environment where both the artistic and academic potential can best be realised. With a vision to nurture creative citizens for the future, SOTA aims to identify and groom artistic and creative learners who positively impact Singapore and the world, through a vibrant learning environment that is anchored in the arts. A school of the future, SOTA embraces a holistic educational philosophy that celebrates experimentation, expression and discovery. 3

DANCE SHOWCASE RAPPORT 2019 Date: 4th & 5th April Time: 8:00 - 9:30 pm Venue: SOTA Drama Theatre Be whisked away on an evening of music and movement at Rapport 2019! The SOTA Dance students take centrestage in this 9th season of SOTA’s annual showcase for Year 4 to 6 Dance students. Join them as they explore, create, and present diverse facets of dance. MUSIC SHOWCASES ALA Date: 25th January Time: 7:30 - 9:00 pm Venue: SOTA Concert Hall The SOTA Music Faculty presents an exciting evening of modern classical music. The programme spans from Olivier Messiaen to Salvatore Sciarrino, featuring the two world premieres of our faculty members and composers, Danilo Imson and Sascia Pellegrini. CONCERTI I SOLISTI VIII Date: 24th March Time: 7:30 - 9:00 pm THEATRE SHOWCASES Venue: SOTA Multi-Purpose Hall Level 6 Witness young musicians take centre stage! In Concerti I Solisti VIII, winners of the annual SOTA Concerto Competition join forces with the Orchestra of the Music Makers (O.M.M.) in an explosive evening of diverse works under the baton of Singaporean conduc- tor Seow Yibin. A DOLL’S HOUSE Date: 17th May (7:30 - 8:30 pm) & 18 May (2:30 - 3:30 pm) Venue: SOTA Studio Theatre SOTA’s Graduating International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (IBCP) Theatre students present a fresh adaptation of Ibsen’s iconic and well-loved play from 1879, that challenges the perceptions of the female in a patriarchal society. COLLAB 2019 Date: 28th February & 1st March Time: 7:30 - 8:30 pm Venue: SOTA Studio Theatre SOTA’s Year 5 Theatre students present a doublebill of fresh and dynamic new works for Collab 2019. SOTA PRIMARY 6 VISUAL ARTS ART COMPETITION SHOWCASE SHOWCASES Date: 23rd to 27th March Time: Noon - 8:00 pm daily Venue: SOTA Gallery The second edition of the SOTA Primary 6 Art Competition Showcase features the Top 50 Commendation winners from SOTA’s annual nation-wide drawing and painting competition. The showcase demonstrates their observational ability and imagination on one the themes of Structure, Spreading and Green. Artworks created by these artists during the SOTA Visual Arts Junior Academy will also be on display. The competition is proudly supported by Mapletree. Admission is free. 16
IBCP VA SHOWCASE Date: 10th to 16th May Time: Noon - 8:00 pm daily Venue: SOTA Gallery The IBCP VA Showcase is a student-curated exhibition by Year 5 & 6 Visual Arts International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (IBCP) students. This yearly showcase displays the multi-disciplinary talents of our IBCP students in a variety of media and approaches that challenge ideas and boundaries of artmaking. 3QUARTERS Admission is free. Date: 30th March to 7th April Time: Noon - 8:00 pm daily Venue: SOTA Gallery 3Quarters is a annual showcase that displays the multi-disciplinary talents of SOTA’s Year 3 and 4 Visual Arts students across a variety of media such as drawing, painting, print, design, media arts, ceramics and sculpture.
