Magpie Larks Week 1 Cat Tails Our cat attack begins! We have organised ourselves into a gulp for each street in our territory as agreed at parliament. Baldy, Swipes, Hops and I make up one gulp and we have decided that we are going to wage magpie warfare on the cats along our street and our plan is diabolical! After breakfast we head off to torment the first cat on our list… Fluffy Fat Cat! I spot it under a bush near the bird bath in the back yard at Mrs Greyhead’s place, we line up on the back fence ready to strike. Swipe swoops down as if he is going to land on the birdbath to distract it, then Baldy and I grab its tail in our beaks and tug, just as it jumps up to run off, Hops jumps on its back and does a claw pinch…it screeches in fury then it runs away! We are an awesome foursome for sure! Before we take off to our next target we stop at the bird feeder at Mrs Greyheads for a snack. Just as we land at the feeder a couple of galahs land too, “hey ya couple of galahs did ya see what we did to that cat?’ Chuckles Hops. “We will just grab some of these seeds and be off, we don’t want any trouble,” they both squeak. Obviously after seeing us take on the cat they think we are dangerous dudes…and we are! They grab a few seeds and take off – I did want to talk to them about the cat problem but it probably would not have helped as they’re a real dumb bird compared to us maggies! “Ok Bomber who is next on the list?” Queries Baldy. “The Black Hulk, meanest cat in the street,” I reply. We are not getting up close and personal to it – that cat has already taken out a couple of our mates! We have something entirely different planned for him, we have been working on it for weeks, we call it “The Alarm Dog Tactic! Let us see if it is as good as we think it is – we fly off down the street in search of Hulk. He’ll be lurking in the bushes somewhere, waiting for his chance to pounce an unsuspecting bird. What is the Alarm Dog Tactic? Will Baldy, Bomber, Swipe and Hop survive their encounter with The Black Hulk or will its meanness overcome them? Find out next issue! EXERCISE YOUR BRAIN !. What 5 letter word becomes shorter when you add 2 letters to it? 2. What makes more as you take them? 3. Without it, I am dead. If I am not, then I am behind. What am I? 4. In British Columbia, you cannot take a picture of a man with a wooden leg. Why not? 5.
