July 2020 - Roma Historical Motor Club Inc.
There were seven vehicles on the July run with a morning
tea stop at Major Mitchell’s Campsite on the Forestvale
Road between Mitchell and Injune. Another point of
interest along this road was the flying fox which is still
used to ferry goods across the river when it’s in flood.
The Injune Men’s Shed put on a delicious BBQ lunch and
we enjoyed spending time socialising with members of
the Injune Chapter and Men’s Shed.
On the way home some stopped to look at the Old Injune
Coal Mine and Mt Hutton Land Soldier Settlement
                      Project.
Thanks to Donna and Des for organising a great run and
look forward to the next one!!

club’s magazine to our website and do only hand the DDVVMC one around at meetings.)

BUSSINESS ARRISING FROM CORRESPONDENCE:
- QHMC - emails from both the treasurer and president which indicated that problems are persisting with
the governance of QHMC. The management committee of our club sent a letter, addressing some of
these issues, signed by all Management committee members via email and post. A reply has been
received but does not address all issues raised by us in our letter. Minutes of the Management
Committee meeting have been requested in writing, but not yet been received. Minutes of the May
general meeting were emailed to us. Attendance at this meeting was by invitation, for 10 delegates only.
No Zoom link or phone connection provided. There has since been an email received from a delegate
who was present, that these minutes are not a truthful account. It is exceedingly difficult to ascertain the
facts about what is occurring as we cannot attend meetings and there seems to be differing accounts
July 2020 - Roma Historical Motor Club Inc.
coming from QHMC Inc. Action - The meeting decided to wait until after the QHMC Inc. AGM, before
deciding what action our club will take.
- Insurance - Karen investigated with Arthur J Gallagher about whether we need to be affiliated with
QHMC Inc. to achieve a better premium. The answer is that presently no, but it is strongly
recommended. And in the future, there will be a need to be affiliated, as Arthur J Gallagher will be re-
brokering our insurance policy before the next renewal in August and giving us a clearer historical
motoring club designation for our insurance with the need to be affiliated with a larger like-minded body.
Premiums may rise in response to Coronavirus as well.
- Check the Office of Fair-Trading website to determine the exact law changes to Incorporated
     Associations.

Note from Karen – I forgot to ask the meeting whether they were wanting advertising emails forwarded but
the executive discussed after the meeting and decided that any club member who is wanting to buy
something will search online anyway. Please let me know if you would like advertising material forwarded.

GENERAL BUSINESS:

1. As 2022 will be our 40th year, we are looking to hosting a rally then. So, we will not be doing a rally in
2021 in lieu of the 2020 one that was not held. Instead, in 2021, we can minute the whole of Easter in
the Country as a club event. We could host an afternoon tea/display on Friday afternoon for our own
club members and any members of other historical motoring clubs who may be in town. (It is possible
that the postponed veteran rally nationals will be held around this time in Charleville). This would be
ideal as people are arriving in town for the weekend about this time. Depending on the number, any
historic vehicles in town may be able to join us for the parade and we can organise for parking space
afterwards at the Anglican Church grounds and maybe they would be interested in doing morning tea for
us and the general public. We would not know numbers though. Perhaps if there is a program at the
Butter Factory, we can make sure they know about it and maybe we can do a display there on Sunday
morning? The meeting decided to go ahead with this idea. Karen to let Charleville 2020 National Rally
for 1 and 2 cylinder veterans know.

2. Some of the club emails have been going to spam. Please check your spam account and mark it “not
spam”, which should move it to your inbox. Then also, add the club addresses admin@, membership@
and news@ to your email address book. This should help!
July 2020 - Roma Historical Motor Club Inc.
3. Don’t forget to join our Facebook group as well as liking our main page and the page for Charleville and
Blackall chapters. Our pages are an official voice of the club, where the admins promote the club, make
events and club information is posted. Our group is meant to be a place where all our club members
can connect and ask for advice, show their latest project or post photos of an event they have been to.
Club events and information that have been posted on our pages are also shared there in an attempt to
make sure that everyone gets to see our posts as Facebook algorithms mean that sometimes page
posts are not seen (unless you pay to promote it.)

4. The meeting notes that from our next meeting, we can have 100 people at a meeting. Therefore, our by-
law that intending members of Roma Historical Motor Club Inc. who reside in the 4455 postcode, must
attend the meeting at which their application for membership is presented; is now re-instated. We had
temporarily suspended it due the CO-VID restrictions. Meeting agreed.

5. AGM will be on 16th August at the RSL Hall. General meeting at 1.45 pm sharp followed by afternoon
tea and AGM at 3.30 pm. Those who have held positions in the past year are encouraged to bring or
send in your report for the meeting. Please attend in your historic vehicle for a display out the front of
the hall. Bessie’s Ice Cream Bus and Ivy’s Coffee van will be in attendance during afternoon tea. Give
out role description forms. Please consider what job you can do for the club.

6. The Variety Bash visit to the “Up the Creek Garage” has been postponed for 12 months till 8th August
      2021.

Next meeting on Sunday 19th July at 2.30 pm at the outside area at the Butter Factory, Station Street
