La Spezia n° 71708 INTEGRATED MARINE COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEMS CLEAR employ new technologies in owner communication systems, they are based on a various products as matrices, operator units, radio interfaces, modems, and so other, all manufactured by CLEAR. These products allows in a simple and reliable manner the realization of communications system from small control center as well in large control center due to the scalable features and to the availability for customization on request. All these system allows an efficient connection between various apparatus up to 128 units (receivers, ransmitters, phone lines, operator voice units, etc.) . Enhanced feature of this new series of devices is the digital signal processing capability that allows low noise and low crosstalk on the signal lines. Remote control by RS232/485 or ETHERNET line plus local control by keyborad and display are available to the users for remote/local control. CLEAR produtcs are avalibale in various size and enclosure from the standard rack 19”. La Spezia n° 71708 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION The MultiFunctionConsolle(MFC) consists of one cabinet composed of three main sections: • Supervisor(SPV) • Message Handling(MH) • Logistic(LOG) plus one communications system composed of four main device: • System Digital Matrix(SDM) • Remote Intelligent Interface Radio(RII_RD) • Remote Intelligent Interface VoiceData(RII_VD) • Twin FSK modem(TWU). The first three (SPV, MH, LOG,) sections are provided with a computer a Monitor and an operator desk. The interface man-machine for each one of these three sections is realized by means a standard Qwerty 101 Keyboard. The purpose of the main sections of the MFC equipment within the system can be summarized as follow: The SPV section absolves the functions of System Manager and System Status Monitoring. The MH section absolves the functions necessary to manipulate messages through telephonic line, or radio channels. Radio vectors or telephonic line are not part of MFC. The LOG section other than absolve the functions necessary to monitor the status of the MFC and the status of the whole System, contains a I.E.T.M. (Interactive Electronic Technical Manual) SGML standard. The SDM section, in conjunction with the RII-RD, absolves the function necessary to interface all radio vectors present in the system and moreover all the Remote Intelligent Interface Voice Data (RII-VD) spread all around the ship, realizing, by means of the technique related to the Integrated Services Digital Network, the centralization of all System operators. La Spezia n° 71708 FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION Following figure shows a general block diagram of MFC Console to outline the main functions performed by it. Three computers named Supervisor (SPV), Message Handler (MH) and Logistic (LOG), with the respective monitor and keyboard, are provided to co-ordinate all the operative functions. In the MFC there are four Remote Intelligent Interface-Voice/Data (RII-VD); two of this to permit the operators (SPV. MH) to access the Integrated Digital Communication System Network and the other two to connect the Twin FSK Modem to the radio vectors. A Dot Printer, connected with the MH computer, is the printing unit for the messages. Switching Digital Matrix (SDM) in conjunction with SPV section realizes the management of the Integrated Communication System (ICS), while the Remote Intelligent Interface (two out of four mentioned before) assure the interfacing with the radio vector.
