IN OUR A SCRIPTURE REFLECTION FROM THOUGHTS THE PASTOR... & PRAYERS... William & Irene McAndrew, Dolores Maggipinto, Jorge Gonzalez, Emma Eday, Alicia Our readings today speak of different encounters with God and Yale, Sharon Le Berthon, Janet Keene, Trudy all of them were unexpected or not what the person was expecting Lousen, Margaret Gibbons, Jim Le Berthon, to happen. Has this happened to you? There have been times in my Renee Meyerson, Roxanne Martin, Maryanne life when I was mad at the position or situation I felt God had put Moses, Patricia Ryan, Dominic Lingua, Thomas me in. I got irritated and wanted to just throw my hands up and Hansen, Gary Lucero, Christopher Kramer, quit. I can feel for the Apostles, yet I did not give up and I did what Harmon Jones, Rudolph Casillas, Regis Coyle, I thought God was calling me to do. Low and behold, it was exactly Bob Spychalsky, Maria Esparza, Bernie Sullivan, where I should be!! When I got over being irritated, I realized the William Mulvoy, Andrew Clark, Veronica Ford, blessings that had been bestowed on myself and others. Travis Winsor, Kevin Tiqui, Kaarel Tanner, Andre In the Gospel today, Peter and the Apostles had to believe in what Hernandez, Linda Lim, Marecil Lim, Madeline Christ was asking and do what they, as fishermen, knew was wrong. Doctors, Diana Nunoz, Diosdado Enriquez, Yet, God came through and blessed not only the Apostles but also Lydia Alaoria, Kathy Garcia, Cory Luick, Melanie the people. Let us take time this week to look at what is being asked Salinas, Claire McLiam, Mike Delaney, Renee of us. Can you see God’s hand in it? Can you move with God and do Nankervis, Dan Zimmerman, Diana Munoz, what seems to be the correct thing and not what others are asking Jane Roach, Richard Mancini, Guillermo Gaetos, of you? Let’s all try to be attuned to God this week and see how Mary Ann Gaetos, Daniel Alvarez, John Gianelli, He is challenging us in our lives and/or ministries. His blessings are Dennis Carroll, Farias family and Robert Akers. waiting on the other side!! Have a blessed week, Sr. Karen Collier, SSL 3

TOGETHER IN MISSION We are excited to announce the Together in Mission 2022 Campaign will launch Commitment Weekend February 19-20 As one Catholic community of faith, let’s pray and reflect on how we can continue to help our struggling parishes and schools in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Did you know? One in every 5 parishes needs financial assistance, and 1 in every 4 Catholic schools needs critical funds to keep their doors open. Our cumulative Together in Mission 2022 goal is $14.4M, representing the Annual Appeal throughout all five regions. Together, let’s make a difference and gather as one Catholic family for our schools and parishes. 5
OUR CATHOLIC COMMUNITY SYNOD MEETINGS The Holy Father Pope Francis has summoned the Church to participate in a worldwide synod with the theme: “For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation and Mission“ Instead of an assembly of bishops in Rome only, Pope Francis invites the whole People of God to participate in the synod – to “journey together” with our brothers and sisters in Christ along the path of renewal, guided by the Holy Spirit. Everyone is invited to join us at one of the following listening sessions which will be held in Healy Hall: Feb. 14th (7-8:30pm), 19th (5:30-7pm), 20th (11:30am-1pm), 21st (7-8:30pm), 28th (7-8:30pm) We encourage all to participate: young adults and seniors, active parishioners and those who have drifted away, as well as those who feel marginalized from the Church. We will pray and reflect together on where we are as a Church and how the Holy Spirit is calling us to move forward. Looking forward to seeing and hearing from all of you. Sr. Karen Collier SSL LEONARD RUDNICK TO RECEIVE SVDP JUBILARIAN AWARD Our parish conference of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul would like to recognize one of our members, Leonard Rudnick with the SVDP Jubilarian Award for the work he has done at Holy Redeemer-St James as a Vincentian. Although there had been a conference at Holy Redeemer, it had been abandoned several years before. In 2011, Leonard worked with the LA Council to reinstate our conference and to recruit volunteers. Leonard became our President and held that position for six years. He continues to help us whenever called upon. He is generous and always willing to help when needed. He has the true heart of a Vincentian. We wish to congratulate Leonard Rudnick on his award! With God’s help, you will continue to succeed in your leadership and in your duties, because Our Lord’s work is accomplished not so much by the multitude of workers as by the fidelity of the small number whom He calls. - St. Vincent de Paul SPIRITUALITY OF ST.
