Students will learn hair removal, facials and makeup procedures. Students will also learn how to perform manicures, pedicures, gel polishes, nail care and nail enhancements Students will demonstrate competency with assignments, tests, and practical skills.
Course Objectives Analyze skin including recognizing and describing various contraindications for facial and hair removal services. Explain facial treatments including galvanic, heat lamps, high frequency, facial packs, facial masks, limited aroma therapy, limited exfoliation. Demonstrate proper facial services and apply facial treatments. Describe limited exfoliation applications and techniques to include re-exfoliation, post- exfoliation consultation considerations, and chemical reactions. Demonstrate massage techniques for the face and neck and basic facial services. Demonstrate temporary hair removal techniques typically used in the salon. Perform or explain the procedures for artificial eyelash applications, arching of the eyebrows, and tinting of the eyelashes and eyebrows. Explain and demonstrate correct sanitation procedures for hand and foot nail care. Demonstrate proper manicure and pedicure procedures. Perform proper UV gel procedures. Describe the procedure for applying acrylic nail enhancements. Demonstrate and learn practical applications while working on course-related content. The College sends a recommended quarterly grade for each student to their high school. Students disputing their grade should follow the Progression Rubric in section 1.6 of the Progress Policy and Procedure. Any further dispute regarding a letter grade may be settled by the high school, since they award the credit. MTECH uses the following scale to convert percentages into letter grades for high school students: Range Letter Conversion

Attendance and Progress Course Policies Students will be required to pass this course with a minimum of 80% progress and 85% attendance. This course must be completed by the end date. Lab Policies Students will be required to perform each skill according to industry-based objectives and performance standards. Students must meet all skills and competency standards before the end of each course. If any time is missed, it is the responsibility of the student to contact the Program Coordinator, make a plan to complete the missed requirement; and on your own time, make-up any missed class time and assignments. Students must verify, with an instructor, that any made up credit and skill competency is recorded.. Technical Requirements

The MTECH employee designated to coordinate compliance with the Section 504 regulations at each campus is the Academic and Career Counselor. Canvas ReadSpeaker ReadSpeaker is an option that is available to any student who would benefit from having a test or assignment in Canvas read to them by a computer. No accommodation is required to use this service. It's available on all Canvas tests and assignments. Ask a test center employee on how to access it while testing. Headphones are required when using ReadSpeaker. The testing center has a limited quantity available so students may want to bring their own. Tuition Students beginning a program while enrolled in high school and then continuing in the same program after their high school class graduation are declared adults on June 1st of each year. If they are continuing in the same program, they are not required to pay additional fees, but will be charged the current hourly tuition rate for the hours left for program completion. These payments must be made to Student Services no later than June 15th of each year. After this date, non-paid students will be dropped from the program.
