Some stay in Ireland, whilst others scatter the globe. Here we touch base with a selection of our alumni who have remained active in sport as we wonder “where are they now?”. Danielle Costigan and Rebecca Coll Honoured at last year’s Alumni Ball, Mandy Hollwey continues to take for Alex against Pembroke hockey in St. Andrew’s School and retains strong links with Trinity. Last year her 1st XI girls won the Kate Russell All Ireland Hockey Trophy. Mandy continues to promote the sport at the schools level and has seen some fantastic young players pass through her ranks. It is the hope that some of these girls will find their way to Trinity to play hockey. I am sure many of you remember Siobhan Royce. Earlier this year she completed the Desert Marathon in aid of cancer. Undoubtedly her training with Trinity helped in this extreme endurance event. Hazel Agar is still playing and captains Old Alexandra 2nd XI who are currently experiencing great successes in the League. The same team won the Division 2 league last season and were Irish Junior Cup finalists. Also involved in Old Alexandra are Rachel Griffith and Rebecca Coll, who both Fiodhna Burke lines out for Monkstown play on the 1st XI. Danielle Costigan, who was a regular in the Old last season Alexandra 1st XI forward line last season is currently working as a physician in the Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, Perth but hopes to return to Irish hockey next year. Meanwhile, Aisling Barry has returned to Galway where she is playing with Galway HC after a spell playing for Old Alexandra on the 2nd XI, while new mum Anya Bowers holds the fort with the same team. New ladies’ club Monkstown has also seen a strong influx of Trinity alumni. Helen Taaffe currently holds the position of Club Captain while Fiodhna Burke captains the hugely successful 1st XI as they establish themselves in Leinster hockey.
