History A destination for architecture and design travelers, The Avalon Hotel Beverly Hills was originally designed in 1948 as the Beverly Carlton by legendary graphic and furniture designers Alvin Lustig and Sam Reisbord. In its first heyday, the chic mid-century destination counted among its A-list residents Marilyn Monroe, Mae West, Lucille Ball, and Desi Arnaz. (Lucky for us, there’s no shortage of iconic images of Monroe in her Canon apartment.) Rooms & Suites Our newly-renovated 84 rooms and suites put minds at ease with a serene, soulful design, imbued with mid-century nostalgia. With floor-to-ceiling windows and dedicated work areas, Avalon’s rooms easily transform to a home away from home, perfect for chilling, remotely working or dialing into a new project. Rooms feature a curated assortment of boutique amenities, including imported linens, Davines bath amenities, marble bathrooms with rainforest showers, Apple TVs, and Jambox Bluetooth speakers. Our three mid-century buildings offer a variety of experiences: Olympic’s bird’s-eye view of the scenic boomerang pool; Canon’s residential privacy and storied history; and across the breezeway, Beverly’s sun-drenched patios and penthouse crown. Eat & Drink At Viviane, our poolside jewelbox, a refined simplicity guides our seasonal menu, with classic dishes like grilled wild-caught fish and housemade pastas paired with boutique wines and crafted cocktails. Inspired by the seasonality of Southern California’s produce and the timelessness of European and American cuisines, Viviane is open for dining either indoors or outdoors on the heated patio. Our newly remodeled poolside private dining room is a perfect setting for smaller cocktail parties or seated celebrations — from dinners to brunches, celebrations to discreet business gatherings.
