“HOLLAND, MICHIGAN TULIP FESTIVAL!” NEW DIRECTIONS & COMMUNITY BANK TUESDAY, MAY 4 – SATURDAY, MAY 8, 2021 If you love flowers, festivals, and good food, then this is the tour for you! This festival has “blossomed” over the years, and in 2016 was named by Readers Digest as the “Best Small-Town Festival in America.” You don’t want to miss this great trip! TUESDAY, MAY 4, 2021 – Experience one of the most beautiful flower festivals in America, as we travel to Holland, Michigan, for a memorable week of tulips and other flowers, parades, sightseeing, shopping and more! Our luxury motorcoach will depart from the Community Bank parking lot in Forest at 6:15 a.m., Community Bank in Brandon at 7:15 a.m., then pick up at the St. Dominic’s Chapel parking lot at 7:45 a.m. Our destination for today, is Mt. Vernon, Illinois. We will have rest stops en route and break for lunch (on your own) and dinner (on your own). By early evening, we arrive in Mt. Vernon and check into our hotel for the night. WEDNESDAY, MAY 5, 2021 – This morning, enjoy a deluxe hot breakfast (included) at our hotel today. After breakfast, we will load our luggage and depart Illinois to make our way to the beautiful town of Holland, Michigan! We will have a lunch break (on your own) en route to Holland. We will arrive by early afternoon and start our tour off on a high note, as we enjoy the Dutch Marktplaats – the beginning of the Dutch Heritage Festival Experience! You will see handmade quilts, wall hangings and other local artisan works, plus Klompen dance performances and wooden shoes for sale to give us the “Dutch Touch!” After our time here, we will have some free time in downtown Holland to enjoy the atmosphere and quaint shops during this wonderful event. After our sightseeing and shopping time, we will have worked up an appetite, so we will be guests at the New Odyssey Dinner Show! We will enjoy a delicious dinner together and enjoy seeing over 30 different musical instruments played, performing arrangements of almost every genre of music! This will be a great ending to our first day in Holland! After our dinner show, we will transfer to our hotel to check-in for the next two evenings. (B, D) THURSDAY, MAY 6, 2021 – An unforgettable day awaits our group! Enjoy a deluxe, hot breakfast (included) at our hotel today. After breakfast, we will start our day with a morning tour of the Veldheer Tulip Gardens, Holland’s only perennial tulip garden/farm! We will see over five million tulips we can walk through and enjoy! Also, see 50,000 daffodils, 10,000 hyacinths and 20,000 crocuses in a parade of color! We will also enjoy seeing DeZwaan, the only 200-year-old authentic Dutch Windmill operating in the United States, which still grinds locally grown wheat into flour. At Nelis’ Dutch Village, we will see costumed guides, an Amsterdam street organ, a hand painted Dutch Carousel and a full replica of a Dutch Inn and gift shops! We will have a lunch break (on your own) at one of the many restaurants in Dutch Village, then we will make our way to the downtown area, to enjoy Volksparade (the people’s parade), one of the most spectacular parades in Michigan! We will see marching bands, amazing floats and entertaining specialty entries as they wind their way down the freshly scrubbed streets. Our dog lovers will enjoy the “tail end” of the parade, as the “Dutch Dogs” will bring the parade to a close. After our parade time, we will enjoy more time exploring the Dutch settlement, where we will step back in time and enjoy the Dutch architecture, canals and beautiful gardens – another memorable treat on our tour!
After an unforgettable day, we will enjoy another exciting dinner show, the Four Pianos Dinner Show! Walt Matzke’s Four Pianos features four master pianists on four grand pianos, performing brilliant arrangements of classical, Broadway and pop favorites! Our group will enjoy a delicious dinner and this talented show (included) this evening. After our show, we will load up and transfer back to our hotel for the evening. (B, D) FRIDAY, MAY 7, 2021 – Enjoy a deluxe, hot breakfast (included) at our hotel today. After breakfast, we will gather our luggage, check out and say good-bye to Holland, MI, as we travel to South Bend, Indiana today! Our highlight today will be a tour of the Notre Dame Campus! The University of Notre Dame was founded in 1842 by Edward Sorin, a priest of the congregation of Holy Cross, a French Missionary order. Notre Dame is one of the great Catholic Universities of America – achieving excellence in academics and athletics. After our campus tour, we will enjoy a delightful lunch (included) at Tippecanoe Place, a beautiful mansion that was owned by the Studebakers! We will enjoy a delicious meal in an elegant atmosphere. After our luncheon, we will load up and continue our drive homeward, as we transfer to Mt. Vernon, Illinois, this afternoon. We will break for dinner (on your own) in Mt. Vernon and check into our hotel for the evening. (B, L) SATURDAY, MAY 8, 2021 – Enjoy a deluxe, hot breakfast (included) at our hotel today. After breakfast, we will gather our luggage, check out and depart Mt. Vernon for our return trip home. We will have rest stops en route and we will arrive in Jackson by early evening to drop our passengers off at St. Dominic’s Chapel, then on to Community Bank in Brandon and Forest, full of colorful memories from our Holland, Michigan Tulip Festival!
