xc A F RUITFUL S ACRIFICE Fourth Sunday of Lent My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations’? But you have made it a den of robbers. Mark 11:17 Worship Service Guide March 27, 2022 10 AM
Welcome to All Saints Church! We are thankful you are here this morning! If you’re visiting with us, we hope that you feel welcome. All Saints Church’s worship includes a formal liturgy. Liturgy (literally meaning “the work of the people”) is the structured way in which God’s people worship Him. What that means is that at some points in the service we’ll take time to be quiet and pray, at other times we’ll respond together with song or Scripture, and still, at other times, we’ll take in the spoken Word of God. Our liturgy is shaped by the same storyline of Scripture. We were created in the image of God, to re ect His love. We have corrupted love by living for ourselves instead of living for God and we deserve God’s judgment. God demonstrates his gracious love for us by redeeming sinners through the death and resurrection of His Son, Jesus. We anticipate our nal home and kingdom where God’s love will be fully expressed and experienced. We give thanks to God who spared from the loveless place of hell and given us the joyous place of eternal life with Him. We ask that you participate in whatever manner comfortable for you. Sometimes people may raise their hands in praise during worship, others might close their eyes, others may appear more solemn. We would also encourage you to bring your own natural speaking voice and expressive style to the mix as we recite Scripture, sing and respond together. It’s a picture of the variety in which God created us. If you are with us via webinar, should you have any di culties with the connection or sound, please don’t hesitate to let us know so that we can improve the streaming experience. We are thankful to have you here with us. May the LORD bless you richly today in worship together of the God of love. And may you know how deeply you are loved. - e All Saints Church Family Th fl fi ffi

We Confess Our Lack of Fruit Corporate Confession of Sin Based on Mark 11:12-25 Please be seated. We gather today in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, the Source of all fruitfulness and faithfulness. Amen. We come confessing to You, O merciful God Our lack of fruit and our lack of faith. We plead the fruit of Christ’s sacri ce for us. What have You given to me that I thought myself the source, O Lord? What talents have You gifted to me that I use only for my own gain? What skills have You granted to me that I have neglected to o er back to You? Forgive my faithlessness, O Lord. What holy ambitions have You put in my heart but I have rejected? What hunger pangs of right living have You shown me but I have refused? What hurting souls have You placed before me but I have chosen to sow my attention elsewhere? Forgive my fruitlessness, O Lord. [Take this time in silence for self-examination and personal confession.] Source of all goodness and grace, we pray: Awaken our souls to a life of faithful dependence upon You, of fruitful obedience to You, of forgiveness extended to others as it was o ered completely to us. O Lord, hear our prayer. Amen. 4 ff fi ff

For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another. But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy through Jesus Christ our Savior. New Testament Reading Mark 11: 12-25 12 On the following day, when they came from Bethany, he was hungry. 13 And seeing in the distance a g tree in leaf, he went to see if he could nd anything on it. When he came to it, he found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for gs. 14 And he said to it, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.” And his disciples heard it. 15 And they came to Jerusalem. And he entered the temple and began to drive out those who sold and those who bought in the temple, and he overturned the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those who sold pigeons. 16 And he would not allow anyone to carry anything through the temple. 17 And he was teaching them and saying to them, “Is it not written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations’? But you have made it a den of robbers.” 18 And the chief priests and the scribes heard it and were seeking a way to destroy him, for they feared him, because all the crowd was astonished at his teaching. 19 And when evening came they went out of the city. 20 Asthey passed by in the morning, they saw the g tree withered away to its roots. 21 And Peter remembered and said to him, “Rabbi, look! e g tree that you cursed has withered.” 22 And Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God. 23 Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. 24 erefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. 25 And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.” Reader: is is God’s Word. Here are some speci c ways in which we are, as a church, coming together to celebrate this season together: Wednesday Prayer Mornings in Lent For the next seven Wednesdays, from 7:00-7:15 AM via conference call, we will be using Jesus’ last words on the cross as our centerpiece for prayer. If you would like to “opt-in” this Lenten season and receive text alerts to join us, please text us at (920) 362-5027 so we can send invitation to you each week.
