01 General Application Information Hall Application is on yearly basis (all should apply afreash!) AIMS / Admission Application System is the only means for Hall Admission / Application Late / incomplete application will NOT accepted Deadline : 15 May 2022, 23:59 HKT *Traffic jam (system) may happen in the last 10 minutes, better submit your application earlier. If you are unable to submit your application due to technical issue, it will be treated as late application.

02 Application Procedure SPECIAL MESSAGE (including but not limited to:) Construction works in the Circular site outside Hall 3 & the façade repairing work in different halls will be carried out throughout the whole residential year. Nose and vibration are expected. The University strictly follows the Government infection control measure. Students who come to campus must adhere to Government and University safety and health guidelines. Non-adherence may result disciplinary action.
02 Application Procedure Starting from 24 February 2022, all residents are required to upload e-vaccination record into AIMS (Declaration for COVID-19 Vaccination) so as to gain access into the Student Residence (SR)/hall. Please stay alert and strictly follow to our announcement if any update. Fail to fulfil the above requirement, residents: - will NOT be able to check-in in person - can NOT gain access to into SR - will NOT be refunded of any fees paid All residents are expected to pay attention and strictly follow the SR Notice & the latest update from HKSAR government carefully for COVID-19.

You can check your application data through AIMS / Admission Application System on the next working day. .

02 Application Procedure Allocation Principles Lot-drawing would be used in allocating residence places for successful applicants, priorities would be made available to support students with special conditions or needs, including: 1. Students awarded with prestigious scholarships as endorsed by SGS; 2. Students with special needs impairing their studies (subject to vigorous screening and documentary proofs)
02 Application Procedure Confirmation and Indication of Roommate / Flatmate Preference Application result will be announced by email notification and successful applicants will then be invited to confirm their offer acceptance by paying a non-refundable and non-transferable confirmation fee HK$1,900. Upon paying the confirmation fee, the applicants can indicate roommate / Flatmate preference via online system. If successful applicants fail to accept the hall offer by settling the confirmation fee, the hall offer will be forfeited and released to those applicants on the waiting list.
02 Application Procedure Room Assignment There is no guarantee that current residents will be assigned to stay in your current room even though you get the hall offer of the same room type in the same hall. – Applicants' preferences on hall, room type and roommate will be considered as far as possible. There is no guarantee that one will be assigned to a particular hall, unit, room type, or with a specific roommate. Final room assignment is subject to room availability and hall admission policies. – Applicants are required to vacate from their current room and move into the new room during the specified days in summer period if they are not assigned to stay in their current rooms

03 Q & A 1. I am planning study leave from July to September 2022. Can I apply for Student Residence? Does it affect my application result? Yes, you shall submit application by deadline if you wish to stay in Student Residence. No, it shall not affect your application result. 2. I arrive Hong Kong. My student visa is under review so I defer my registration as student. May I check-in and stay at Hall until I complete the enrollment procedure? If you do not complete the enrollment procedure within 3 working days after check-in, you are not allowed to continue staying in the Hall. 3. I am non-residents now. I will have a conference during 20 August to 9 September 2022. Can I authorize my friend to complete the check-in procedure on 25 August 2022 (mass check-in date) or may I check-in on 10 September 2022 You MUST complete the check-in procedure IN PERSON within ONE week from 25 August 2022. You can apply for a late check-in before the specific deadline. Please pay attention to the check-in email in due course. Special arrangement for late check-in could only be made upon SRO’s approval. For those who fail to apply for late check-in, their hall offer will be forfeited without prior notice.
03 Q & A 4. I am non-residents now. I cannot check-in on 25 August 2022 and apply for late check-in on 1 October 2022. Will the hall lodging fee be charged from 1 October 2021? The hall lodging fee will be charged from the first day of residence period (i.e. 25 August 2022), even you check-in late. 5. I will be awarded Hong Kong PhD Fellowship and Chow Yei Ching School of Graduate Studies Entrance Scholarship which covers on-campus hostel accommodation expenses in my first year. Do I need to submit the application? Yes. You MUST submit the application before the application deadline. 6. Entrance scholarship will cover on-campus hostel accommodation fees in my first year (12 months), and the award period will start from 1 September 2022. Residential year for 2022/23 is starting from 25 August 2022 to 16 August 2023. Do I need to pay any hall fee in my first year (12 months)? You are liable to pay the hall lodging fee for the period of stay which is NOT covered by award period at your own cost (e.g. 25 August to 31 August 2022).
03 Q & A 7. There is a way to apply for a married couple unit directly? NO. 8. I am a current UGC-funded student but my wife is a new student. How can we apply for married couple unit? There are a very limited number of self-contained studio units for two persons in Hall 7 that may accommodate married couples. However, we do NOT designate these limited studio units solely to married couples. Unless two students are successfully allocated a residence place, and provide proof of marriage certificate, we can consider allocating the limited studio to the married couple students, if the demand is contained. 9. There are not too much married couple students so married couple units may be vacant. I am a current UGC-funded student but my wife is a Non-UGC funded student. Can we apply for married couple unit NO, non-UGC funded student is not eligible to be our resident.
03 Q & A 10. I am a second year PhD student, live in Hall-8, Single Room. I would like to stay Jockey Club House in 2022/23. How can I apply for a bedplace in Jockey Club House? Students can indicate to stay Jockey Club House and go through the room-type allocation process regarding of their preference by lot-drawing. 11. My friends and I are Hall 8 residents but stay in difference floor. May we indicate to be flat-mate? Students are required to mutually indicated the other students as their flat-mates and their roommate indication preference will be considered as far as possible. 12. I am Hall 8 resident and stay in lower floor. I want to stay in Hall 8 but upper floor. Can I indicate that I prefer to pick the room facing East/South on upper floor? Is there guarantee I can get the bedplace in Hall 8? Students can only indicate their hall and room type preference. The room will be randomly assigned and requests on particular room/floor or special conditions of room will NOT be entertained. There is no guarantee that current residents will be assigned to the current room even though they get the hall offer of the same room type in the same hall.
03 Q & A 13. I have been allocated a 3-person room which I do not indicated as my preferred room type. May I give up this hall offer of 3-person room and wait for another room type on the waiting list? NO. Lottery is used in allocation of hall/room types. If you do not accept the allocated hall/room type, your hall offer will be forfeited and released to applicants on the waiting list.
