Update From Fr. Chad - November 16, 2020 My dear friends, here we go again.... INDOOR MASS SUSPENDED According to public health authorities, Covid-19 cases in San Joaquin County are growing rapidly and have again reached dangerous levels. Under the California governance framework, San Joaquin County has moved back to the "purple tier" stage. Effective Monday, November 16, 2020 all indoor celebration of Mass will be suspended. OUTDOOR MASS WILL CONTINUE Outdoor Mass will continue as long as the weather permits. Assume that outdoor Mass is cancelled, if it is raining. No ticket needed. Starting on Sunday, November 22, 2020, Outdoor Mass English Mass is a 9:00 A.M. Spanish Mass is at 10:30 A.M. ONLINE MASS WILL CONTINUE Online Mass will continue as normal. Please join us for this celebration. HOLY COMMUNION WILL BE PROVIDED Holy Communion, without Mass will be provided. We will conduct Holy Communion inside the church as we did before and I ask that everyone follow all social distancing protocols. No ticket needed. Starting on Sunday, November 22, 2020 Holy Communion, without Mass: 10:00 am to 11:00 am PRIVATE PRAYER WILL BE AVAILABLE The Diocese has determined that private prayer within the church is acceptable. Please follow the previous protocols pro- vided and understand there is a limit to the number of persons inside the church at one time. No ticket needed Monday, Wednesday, Thursday: 8:00 am to 11:30 am Tuesday and Friday: 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm ST. ANTHONY'S SCHOOL WILL REMAIN OPEN At this time, the school will remain open. State guidance allows that schools that were already offering in-person instruction in counties who have returned to a lower tier can continue to do so, but they must increase Covid-19 testing for staff. DISPENSATION FROM SUNDAY MASS WILL CONTINUE You continue to receive God’s good grace and are not obligated to attend Mass. Confession is not required because you were unable to attend Mass during this time. OTHER SACRAMENTS Further clarification will be provided regarding funerals, weddings and other Sacraments. Please contact the Parish Office for further information or questions. CALFORNIA CATHOLIC CONFERENCE Although I am not aware of the specifics yet, I have heard news that the California Catholic Conference is working on a wavier to open our churches with modifications. This is similar to what many schools, including St. Anthony's did. School waivers allowed public and private schools in restricted counties to offer in-person instruction to students in kinder- garten through sixth grade if they proved they will take strict safety precautions and demonstrate they have support from teachers and families to reopen. Hopefully, their efforts will succeed. COMMITMENT WEEKEND By now you should have received my letter and offertory commitment card. Please prayerfully consider and review your current and future commitment. It is important now, and for the future of St. Anthony's Parish. PRAY Please please pray for all those dealing with the effects of the virus, those who are ill, their families, health care workers and officials working to slow the spread of COVID-19. Pray that our leaders are granted the wisdom to bring this to an end. In Christ's love, Fr. Chad st-anthonys.org | 8
