Eighth grader Kaitlyn Holland crowned Mary and was escorted by Sam Derrick. In Annaliese Doster’s absence, Grace Riesinger and Brayden Coronado were the LIVING STATIONS OF THE CROSS 2nd grade attendants. The 4th grade is continuing the tradition of living reenactments of Stations of the Cross in their religion class taught by Mrs. Tons. CLASS UPDATES 4TH GRADE - “HOW DO PLANTS GROW +++ FLOWERS?” Mrs. Tons’ 4th grade science class put the process of pollination into action as they made paper flowers and pipe cleaner bee models. They observed what happens to the flower’s pollen when their bees flew from flower to flower. The children learned that flowers need pollen from other flowers in order to pollinate. KINDERGARTEN - LITERARY PARADE Kindergarten celebrated Read Me Week with many different activities. A favorite was Book Character Day! Each child chose their favorite book character, dressed up as that character, and presented a book report. After the presentations, the students participated in a parade through the school. They were greeted and applauded from first grade all the way to the eighth grade classes. Mrs. Dams created a video book that was shared with parents via Google Classroom. What a fun day of learning! 2ND GRADE - BUTTERFLIES The second grade classrooms watched as tiny caterpillars turned into beautiful butterflies. Students also journaled and learned about each phase of the butterfly life cycle. 7TH GRADE- CULTURE FAIR What is the main source of agriculture? What is the top sport of the country? What kind of animal habitation is in that country? What was ancient civilization like there? Who are some famous people? Seventh grade students traveled the world and learned about different countries and cultures via research papers and presentations. 12 13 +++ +++ CORDE LEONIS SPRING 2021 WWW.STMATTHEWTN.ORG/SCHOOL
