JUNE 19, 2022 • THE MOST HOLY BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST SO CLOSE NO MATTER HOW FAR– We are now a few weeks away from the Beacons of Light D-Day on Friday, July 1. Please check out our Priest Rotation Schedule for the first couple of weeks. We will post a schedule each week for several weeks to help you get an idea of how the rotation works and help you to empathize with your priests. Remember that we will have one daily Mass at Holy Angels starting July 1. We will have NO daily Mass on Mondays. Mass will be at 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Friday Mass will be at 8:30 a.m. There will only be Saturday morning Mass on First Saturdays at Holy Angels. The normally scheduled Saturday Mass will be at Sacred Heart each week. Our Sunday Mass schedule will remain as is. Our day for Adoration will move to Tuesdays following the 7:00 a.m. Mass and end with Benediction at 6:00 p.m. Confessions will be on Tuesday from 5:00-6:00 p.m., Wednesday from 12:00-1:00 p.m., Saturday from 3:15-4:15 p.m., and Sunday from 8:30-9:00 a.m. Confession will be available on Thursday before First Fridays at 3:00-4:00 p.m. and on First Fridays from 4:00-5:00 p.m. Also, a reminder that we will have a Day of Grace at Sacred Heart this coming Thursday, June 23, from 6:00 a.m.-9:30 p.m. Confession will be heard in the church itself where Eucharistic Adoration will be taking place as well, following the 8:00 a.m. Mass until we end at 9:30 p.m. Because of my need to get into the Confessional at Sacred Heart at 7:45 a.m. on this day, the early Mass at Holy Angels will be at 6:45 a.m. on Thursday, June 23. Next Sunday, July 26, we will have our next Family of Parishes Holy Hour at St. Michael from 7:00- 8:00 p.m. Please come out for this opportunity to pray for our Family of Parishes as we prepare for Beacons of Light. The Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life as the Second Vatican Council told us. I would ask all parishioners to pray that one day we would be able to have a Perpetual Adoration Chapel in our Family of Parishes. We already have Adoration three days a week in our Family, so we just need to have a group of individuals to organize such a task. Please consider signing up for the 12:00-1:00 p.m. hour and the 5:00-6:00 p.m. hour for Adoration at Holy Angels when it moves to Tuesdays in July. Thanks in advance for volunteering. Thank you to the staff at Holy Angels and all the staff of NW-7. They have been a wonderful crew to work with already. I am super excited about the opportunity we have in our Family to build up our parishioners through our staff. I want to especially thank Barb Blanco and Jill Heitmeyer, who have been not only extraordinarily hard workers, but have also been sources of encouragement to me in difficult times. June 19, 2022 Feast of Corpus Christi "I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world." - John 6:51 Mission The Bishops of the United States are calling for a three-year grassroots revival of devotion and belief in the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. They believe that God wants to see a movement of Catholics across the United States, healed, converted, formed, and unified by an encounter with Jesus in the Eucharist—and sent out in mission “for the life of the world.” These three years will culminate in the first National Eucharistic Congress in the United States in almost fifty years. Almost a hundred thousand Catholics will join together in Indianapolis for a once-in-a- lifetime pilgrimage toward the “source and summit” of our Catholic faith. To renew the Church by enkindling a living relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist. Timeline June 19, 2022 Feast of Corpus Christi Launch of the Eucharistic Revival June 19, 2022 – June 11, 2023 Diocesan Year of Eucharistic Revival June 11, 2023 – July 17, 2024 Parish Year of Eucharistic Revival July 17 – 21, 2024 National Eucharistic Congress Indianapolis, Indiana July 17, 2024 Pentecost 2025 Year of Going Out on Mission About the Revival In late 2019, a Pew Study indicated what many had long suspected. Few Catholics, approximately 30 percent, fully believe in the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. This stark reality inspired the Bishops of the United States to action. More than an event or a program, they envisioned a true Revival to rediscover the source and summit of our Faith through a deep commitment of prayer, pilgrimage, and worship on the part of the entire Church in the United States.
The advent of the pandemic only accelerated these plans, revealing their urgency and importance. Too many Catholics still have not returned to Mass to celebrate the central mystery of the Church. Taking its title from the Bread of Life discourse in John’s Gospel, “My flesh for the life of the world/Mi carne para la vida del mundo,” the Eucharistic Revival is not a step-by-step plan or a series of meetings; it is a grassroots call and a challenge for every Catholic across the United States to rekindle the fire of love and devotion for the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus. Over three years, every Catholic diocese, parish, school, apostolate, and family is invited to be a part of renewing the Church by enkindling a living relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist. This Revival launches on the Feast of Corpus Christi, June 19, 2022. Over the next three years, dioceses will host Eucharistic Congresses and processions. Parishes will increase or begin Eucharistic Adoration. There will be a revival of faithful adherence to the liturgical norms in all their richness – the ars celebrandi. Families and friends will gather in small groups to learn and pray together. Filled with the flame of charity from the reception of Jesus in the Eucharist, missionary disciples will go to the margins, recognizing the mystery of Jesus’ presence in the poor. All of this will culminate in the first National Eucharistic Congress in the United States in almost fifty years. From July 17-21, 2024, thousands of Catholics will journey on pilgrimage to Indianapolis to personally encounter Jesus in the Eucharist and be sent back out into their parishes and communities. Vision A movement of Catholics across the United States, healed, converted, formed, and unified by an encounter with Jesus in the Eucharist—and sent out in mission “for the life of the world.” Strategic Pillars I. Foster encounters with Jesus through kerygmatic proclamation and experiences of Eucharistic devotion. II. Contemplate and proclaim the doctrine of the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist through the Truth of our teaching, Beauty of our worship, and Goodness of our accompaniment of persons in poverty and those who are vulnerable. III. Empower grassroots creativity by partnering with movements, apostolates, parishes, and educational institutions. IV. Reach the smallest unit: parish small groups and families. V. Embrace and learn from the various rich intercultural Eucharistic traditions. www.eucharisticrevival.org

Religious Freedom Week 2022: Life and Dignity for All Religious freedom allows the Church, and all religious communities, to live out their faith in public and to serve the good of all. Archbishop Dennis Schnurr, of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, reflected on May 31, 2019 on the state of religious freedom in our country in his column in The Catholic Telegraph. He writes, “In the United States, freedom of worship is taken for granted. However, religious liberty involves much more than that. It is also the freedom to live out our faith in the public square as we serve the community in faithful citizenship. That is what the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution protects in its very first words: ‘Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.’ Today, however, Catholic hospitals, schools, and charitable services (such as adoption and foster care) are under attack for upholding Catholic teaching about marriage and sexuality. The U.S. bishops are urging Catholics to ‘pray, reflect and take action’ on religious liberty in the United States and abroad during Religious Freedom Week, June 22- 29. The week begins with the Feasts of St. Thomas More and St. John Fisher on June 22 and ends with the Feast of Ss. Peter and Paul on June 29 – all saints who were martyred for living their faith – the faith we share as Catholics.” Learn more at www. THANK YOU TO MARY LOU usccb.org/ReligiousFreedomWeek.
