Lifestyle BRUCE LITTLE sculptor Your Personalised Beauty Map The new Diego Dalla Palma professional line meets the specific needs of every area of the face. Ultra-personalised cell bio- revitalisation targets the particular needs of each area of the face. Because each skin is unique and in constant evolution and the secret to beautiful, healthy skin lies in a targeted and personal skin code. The various areas of the face are anatomically and physiologically different (different skin thickness, sebaceous gland distribution, level of vascularisation, etc.). Therefore, each area is subject to different problems (localised spots, sagging, impurities, blemishes, expression lines) even in terms of intensity alone. SKIN CODE is the new beauty treatment that meets the needs and solves the problems of each area of the face with intense, targeted action. The range is now available at select spas and salons nationwide. With Modern, Spanish Style Toro, meaning ‘bull’ in Spanish, is the latest product development from OKHA, the internationally-acclaimed furniture design and interior decorating firm. “I like to think that the chair has a powerful physical presence, like the bull it is loaded... charged with an assured power,” says Adam Court, Creative Director of OKHA. The carbon stained ash with its subtle satin finish and the dense, near black velvet, recall the glossy black hide of the animal, with daylight reflecting off flanks and haunches. When we conjure up an image of the animal, we etch a sharp, defined silhouette, a format once powerful and sensual and invariably dressed in black. The sculpted arms symbolise the bull’s horns; they are strong and assertive with intent as is the structure of the chair, which possesses a very physical and rigorous construction. The stance of the chair is very robust and firmly rooted, and as with the bull its kinetic forward power comes from its rear haunches which drive forwards. For more information, visit www.okha.com. “Babel is the sincerest application of farm- to-table, and the food is spectacular.” T he Garden Route, with its incredible coastal views, intriguing roadside dorpies and extraordinary encounters with wildlife, is a local destination that lives up to its hype. We’ve compiled a self-drive holiday that has you picking up a car in Cape Town, meandering through the Cape Winelands and exploring the Karoo, before flying out of George. DAY ONE TO THREE Just a 40-minute drive east of Cape Town is South Africa’s world-famous wine region and the historic towns of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek. “The surrounding hills provide the ideal microclimate for vines, and the whole area is a feast for sore eyes. Wines have been produced in this region since 1659, and now it’s also become a culinary hotspot,” says Jeanneret Momberg, general manager of Visit Stellenbosch. The vista-rich Winelands are so spectacular that they deserve at least two full days of your time, but with 148 wine farms in the Stellenbosch region alone, how does one choose? Momberg suggests you let food dictate your decisions. “Regardless of what vineyards you visit during the first few days of your Garden Route trip, Babel in Babylonstoren is where you should end up for lunch,” she says. “Donkeys, chickens and ducks run around among the 300-plus varieties of plants, fruits and vegetables, and they even have their rice patch! Babel is the sincerest application of farm-to-table, and the food is spectacular. “For dinner, nothing beats Indochine at Delaire Graff Estate. Chef Virgil Khan creates art you can eat in the name of Asian Fusion, served under a ceiling of 1,000 little birds. You’ll quickly be tempted to stay here overnight, too,” she adds. DAY FOUR TO FIVE The saying, “it’s about the journey, not the destination” couldn’t be more exact than on the Cape’s spectacular Route 62, where you’ll find yourself doing the longest stretches of driving. “Leave the Winelands via the Franschhoek Pass, and drive into the 22 SkyNews flycemair.co.za flycemair.co.za SkyNews 23
