Winter 2022 After School Enrichment Program FEES: 8 WEEK CLASSES (with SAS Teacher): $150 PER SESSION 8 WEEK CLASSES (CHESSNUTS): $200 PER SESSION CLASS SCHEDULE: MONDAYS: January 24, 31, February 7, 14, 28, March 7, 21 and 28 TUESDAYS: January 18, 25, February 1, 8, 15, March 1, 8 and 22 WEDNESDAYS: January 19, 26, February 2, 9, 16, March 2, 9 and 16 THURSDAYS: January 20, 27, February 3, 10, 17, March 3, 10 and 17 All Registration due by Friday, January 14 Please note that class sizes are limited. Place checks payable to St. Aidan School or cash in an envelope ATTN: MRS. GRAHAM, ENRICHMENT CLASSES Some classes may be cancelled or closed depending on enrollment, so please send in a separate check for each class for which your child is registering. Winter 2022 After School Enrichment Program MONDAY Artist Apprenticeship Grades: 2 - 8 Location: Upper School Teacher: Mrs. Gustafson Mondays: January 24, 31, February 7, 14, 28, March 7, 21 and 28 Time: 2:30 PM - 3:45 PM Come join the fun and make new friends as we explore careers in the art world. We will act like apprentices and use our art skills to design packages, advertisements, and more. All artwork will be returned in a portfolio at the end of the session. Second graders will be safely crossed over to the upper school for class. Bring a snack/drink to enjoy before class begins. Dismissal will be from the front main doors of the upper school at 3:45 PM. Students who are registered for the After School Program will be crossed over to the lower school. Travel Back in Time Grades: 4 - 8 Location: Upper School Teacher: Mrs. Tarantola Mondays: January 24, 31, February 7, 14, 28, March 7, 21 and 28 Time: 2:30 PM - 3:45 PM If you love history….this is the class for you! Come join us as we travel back in time to explore local, state, national, and world history. We will be doing research, analyzing and interpreting our findings, drawing conclusions about how our topic influenced history, and create a final project in one of five different categories that we choose together: Historical Paper, Documentary, Performance, Website or Exhibit. Bring a snack/drink to enjoy before class begins. Dismissal will be from the front main doors of the upper school at 3:45 PM. Students who are registered for the After School Program will be crossed over to the lower school.
Winter 2022 After School Enrichment Program TUESDAY Read Aloud and Create Grades: PreK - 1 Location: Lower School Teacher: Mrs. Gustafson Tuesdays: January 18, 25, February 1, 8, 15, March 1, 8 and 22 Time: 2:30 PM - 3:45 PM Come join the fun and make new friends as we create artwork based on the stories of our favorite author/illustrators. All artwork will be returned in a portfolio at the end of the session. Bring a snack/drink to enjoy before class begins. Dismissal will be from the front main doors of the lower school at 3:45 PM. Students who are registered for the After School Program may be released to the After School Program. Sports Fanatics League Grades: 4 - 8 Location: Upper School Teacher: Miss Stolfi Tuesdays: January 18, 25, February 1, 8, 15, March 1, 8 and 22 Time: 2:30 PM - 3:45 PM "Do you like sports? Do you enjoy keeping track of your favorite players' stats? Come join Miss Stolfi as we learn about our favorite sports and players! We will be learning about our favorite players' stats, researching different sports teams, and creating our own trading card for individual players/teams. Use your sports knowledge at home when watching games! Join with a friend as we focus on the NFL postseason, the NBA and NHL season, and the upcoming MLB season!" Bring a snack/drink to enjoy before class begins. Dismissal will be from the front main doors of the upper school at 3:45 PM. Winter 2022 After School Enrichment Program TUESDAY Create Your Own Comic Book Grades: 3 - 8 Location: Upper School Teacher: Mrs. Tarantola Tuesdays: January 18, 25, February 1, 8, 15, March 1, 8 and 22 Time: 2:30 PM - 3:45 PM Strengthen your writing and design skills with this ELA -based enrichment class! Students will study different kinds of graphic novels and comic book elements in order to create their own! When students are finished with their comic drafts, they will be able to design and illustrate their very own books! By the end of the eight weeks, students will have their very own, independently-designed, comic books! Bring a snack/drink to enjoy before class begins. Dismissal will be from the front main doors of the upper school at 3:45 PM. Students who are registered for the After School Program will be crossed over to the lower school..
Winter 2022 After School Enrichment Program WEDNESDAY ChessNuts Grades: 1 - 8 Location: Lower School Teacher: Outside Vendor Wednesdays: January 19, 26, February 2, 9, 16, March 2, 9 and 16 Time: 2:30 PM - 3:45 PM "All levels, from beginner to advanced are welcome and grouped according to ability. This program includes a 20 minute lesson, playing time, special events, and several mini-chess tournaments. Emphasis is given to IMPROVEMENT OF SKILLS, building confidence, self- esteem and sportsmanship. All equipment is supplied. ChessNut Instructors are chess experts who are experienced and relate well with children. Studies have shown that playing chess increases a child’s reading and math levels and improves grades in school as it increases concentration and strategy skills. You can play this for the rest of your life! Come and join us. Bring a snack/drink to enjoy before class begins. Dismissal will be from the front main doors of the lower school at 3:45 PM. Winter 2022 After School Enrichment Program THURSDAY Speech and Debate Grades: 6 - 8 Location: Upper School Teacher: Mrs. Michel Thursdays: January 20, 27, February 3, 10, 17, March 3, 10 and 17 Time: 2:30 PM - 3:45 PM Do you like to share your opinions and want to debate others on issues that matter to you? If you answered yes to the question, then Debate is for you. Using your school iPads, you will be able to research topics and debate other students. This is a great activity that may want to continue into High School, Feel secure making oral presentations. Learn how to stick up for your beliefs. Bring a snack/drink to enjoy before class begins. Dismissal will be from the front main doors of the upper school at 3:45 PM. Students who are registered for the After School Program will be crossed over to the lower school. Friendship Bracelet Making Class Grades: 3 - 8 Location: Upper School Teacher: Miss Stolfi Thursdays: January 20, 27, February 3, 10, 17, March 3, 10 and 17 Time: 2:30 PM - 3:45 PM "Do you like creating string bracelets? Do you want to learn how to create new, fun friendship bracelet designs? Come join Miss Stolfi and make a new friendship bracelet each class. Sign-up with a friend, or two, and come make bracelets for yourself, for your friends, or just spend some quality time together while you make something special!" Bring a snack/drink to enjoy before class begins. Dismissal will be from the front main doors of the upper school at 3:45 PM. Winter 2022 After School Enrichment Program THURSDAY STEM Studio Grades: 4 - 6 Location: Upper School Teacher: Ms. McAndrews Thursdays: January 20, 27, February 3, 10, 17, March 3, 10 and 17 Time: 2:30 PM - 3:45 PM Race Cars, build bridges, navigate robots and learn how to code in STEM Studio. This class will meet every Thursday and we will tackle a new STEM project each week. STEM Studio is a great way for students to collaborate with their peers, problem solve and show their creative side! There is something for everyone in this class! Come join the fun! Bring a snack/drink to enjoy before class begins. Dismissal will be from the front main doors of the upper school at 3:45 PM.
