What is a Credit in High School ? A BHHS student needs 26 credits in order to graduate. A half credit is earned each semester for each class passed with a 70 or above average. All 9th grade students must be enrolled in seven class periods, which must include English, math, science,
GRADE LEVEL CLASSIFICATION • Students are classified based on the number of credits they have earned at the beginning of the school year. CREDIT EARNED GRADE CLASSIFICATION 0.0- 5.5 9 Freshman 6.0- 12.5 10 Sophomore 13.0- 18.5 11 Junior 19.0 + 12 Senior
COME TO SCHOOL How does your student earn credit for the classes they take? Grade + Attendance = CREDIT
END-OF-COURSE TESTING • The following 5 end-of-course (EOC) assessments are required: – English I – English II – Algebra I – Biology – US History The student must pass each of the five EOC assessments to meet state graduation requirements.

Top 10% Rule •Class Rank and GPA are used to determine if a student is in the “Top 10%” of the class. •Students who are in the top 10% of their class are automatically accepted into Texas public colleges. REGISTRATION TIMELINE THURSDAY, JANUARY 27TH ● Class presentations at both middle schools provided by the BHHS counselors. ● Course selection sheets will be sent home with students. FRIDAY, JANUARY 28TH ● Students will review their course selection sheets with the BHHS counselors and create their Four-Year Plans. Course Selection Sheets are Due Friday, January 28 to the student’s middle school campus.
CHOOSING COURSES FOR NEXT YEAR • Course selection is for the entire school year. • Students enrolled in an Advanced Academics class who wish to drop to the on level equivalent of the same class must remain in the advanced class for the first six weeks of the school year.
