Why do our families and students choose CBE Home Education? • Parents and guardians say, “We came to the program because we heard amazing stories about the teachers and we stay because the teachers are amazing!” • It’s Free – No Registration Fees • Parents, guardians and students say, “We love the blended program – we take two courses and PE at Windsor Park School and we complete the rest of our program in our own way – best of both worlds.” • Grades 6-9 also have the option of taking one class online with CBe- Learn. This can be a good way to “try out” online learning. • Students say, “They love the playgrounds, the extra-curricular activities: intramural games in the gym at lunchtime, friends, feel safe and cared for, Theatre Production, Business Fair, Cross-Country Running Team, Badminton Team and Track & Field Team, Outdoor Pursuits (kayaking, hiking, ski/snowboard trip), Movie Nights, Winter Talent Show, Science Olympics, Pyjama Day!”

Learner Outcomes for Parent-Directed Portion What will you choose? • Alberta Home Education Regulations? • Alberta Program of Studies? Teachers in Alberta must use the Program of Studies for courses. Parents choosing Home Education have a choice!
The Learning Plan: Parents provide a written description of the program, called a “Learning Plan,” which includes: 1. The Learner Outcomes that are appropriate to the child’s program 2. A list of activities allowing students to achieve those outcomes 3. Instructional methods and resources to be used 4. The means for conducting evaluations of the student’s progress including a method for documenting and gathering evidence of learning. Support for the Learning Plan includes: - Access to a teacher facilitator, other parents, online resources, Alberta Education Home Education Guidelines - Facilitator meetings three times a year at Windsor Park School
Assessment of and for Learning: Parents are required to: 1. Collect evidence of student progress throughout the year; 2. Maintain ongoing dated records of evaluation; 3. Summarize student progress in a mid-year and year-end Parent Progress Report
Reimbursements: Families will receive up to $836.00 depending on how much of a program Is Parent-Directed and how much of the program is CBE Teacher-Directed. FEES: Registration is FREE Field Trips are charged per trip Lunchroom and Lunchtime Supervision for grades 1-6 at Windsor Park School is $137.50 / year.
Registration Process: q Attend an in-person or virtual information session q Call or Email, Administrative Assistant, Kim Randall. 403-777-8490 kkrandall@cbe.ab.ca q Complete an application package and an initial Learning Plan – Program Application, Alberta Education Home Education Notification form, Registration Questionnaire, CBE Student Registration Form & Birth Certificate (if you’re coming from outside of the CBE), Past Report Card, IPP, and Transfer Form (if you’re coming from within the CBE). q The Assistant Principal will contact you for the intake. q Please be familiar with Alberta Education’s Regulations, expectations and documents for Home Education q Families must reside within the Calgary City Limits
