Love Children Spring 1 Week 4 05/02/2021 Love Learning Dear Parents Open Gates Yesterday at school we remembered Captain Sir Tom Moore who sadly died on Tuesday. We talked about his incredible achievement last year and pupils in year six wrote their own tributes and shared his uplifting and positive sayings with the rest of the school during our Clap for Captain Tom. They then visited the wonderful graffiti mural and lay flowers on behalf of the school. I was touched by the sincerity of feeling shown by the children towards him - as Katie said, “Thank you Captain Sir Tom, you have inspired us and I’m sure you will inspire many generations to come!” There was some ‘Animal Magic’ in the air at Two Gates this week - with pets of pupils in KS1 being invited to join in our live Zoom Ready Steady Learn sessions! The children shared stories and facts about their pets - Mrs Dodds even brought her tortoise Dooley in to school. We clearly don’t take any notice of the old adage ‘never work with children and animals’! See photos below/on Twitter and Check out the Tamworth Herald next week for the full story! Safer Internet Day (SID) is getting close. On Tuesday, 9 February 2021, SID will take place across the world, once again with a theme of Together for a better internet - An Internet We Trust: exploring reliability in the online world. Please click the picture to find out more. We will be covering this important topic in our school and home learning activities next week. Take care everyone and keep up the amazing home learning- we have four more school days until half term. As Friday 12th is a staff training day we will not be setting any home learning for this day or the half term holiday. You can, of course, do some of the activities suggested on the February wellbeing calendar, but we would really like all our families to have some rest and relaxation time. That’s what we are going to do too; with this in mind we will remind the children not to post anything on Seesaw and Tapestry - as everyone needs a break after working so hard this term. Have a good weekend - I’m certainly enjoying the lighter afternoons and evenings and loving the signs of spring on my walks. Mrs Llewelyn-Cook
Year 6 children have been looking at digital media and have used computer- aided technology to draw their own self portraits on the computer! These portraits are by Chloe and Darci. This learning has inadvertently been a nice link to the Children's Mental Health theme this week: 'Express Yourself'
In Year 1 and 2 we are really enjoying our daily Zoom calls with the teachers. We play games, talk about our learning and have a daily story time session online too! We have also had some extra animal visitors to our Zoom calls and so we thought we’d introduce each other to our very important pets! It was lovely to see our friends and pets on Zoom, everyone was really confident to introduce their animals and talk about how we look after our pets. The school are very proud of our home learners.
Children paying their respects to Captain Sir Tom Moore 1920-2021 “We will get through it in the end but it might take time, but at the end of the day we shall all be OK again… the sun will shine on you again and the clouds will go away” Rest In Peace
Year 4 children have been researching different styles of Roman shields and have used their research to design a shield of their own. Well done Jack, Summer, Isabelle and George. We think these are awesome! We look forward to seeing more completed shields over the next few weeks.
