Happy Day of Hearts
*February - Black We are halfway through the school year! The resilience that our families and
History Month students have shown has been truly inspiring. We are grateful for the

Chinese New Year The steady decrease in the number of daily new coronavirus cases gives us
Celebrations much hope of returning to some sort of normalcy in our lives, although we
continue to take all measures to prevent the spread of the disease in our

School Closed
February 12 - Valentine’s Snack Celebration
Every February 14, people exchange greeting
cards, candy, flowers, and gifts, all in the name of
St. Valentine. For children, it is a wonderful
opportunity to show appreciation for their friends
and the people they love. We will be celebrating
the occasion with a snack party and the students
are encouraged to dress in red, pink, or purple.
February 12 - Valentine’s Day Card Exchange &
Goody Bags
Our students will exchange Valentine’s Cards and goody
bags on Friday, February 12, 2021. The following are
some suggested items for the goody bags: pencils,
erasers, small toys, notepads, coloring books, crayons,
and other creative materials. For the safety of our
students, we discourage parents from sending candies in
the goody bags. Kindly contact your child’s teacher if
you need more information. We are looking forward to a
fun-filled Valentine’s Day.

February 12 – Chinese New Year Celebrations Special Lunch Menu for Chinese New Year
Egg Fried Rice
Chinese New Year is a traditional holiday celebrated at Vegetarian Noodles with Stir-fry Vegetables
the turn of the Chinese calendar. It is a great Orange Chicken
opportunity for our students to expand on their Fortune Cookies
knowledge and embrace diversity. We will celebrate
this special occasion and learn more about Chinese
customs and traditions. Additionally, students will learn
about China - its people, geography, and other
interesting facts during the week. The children may also
dress in red & gold-colored festive attire on the 12th.
February is Black History Month
Our students will focus this February on learning
about the lives of Black Americans, their history,
heritage, and contributions to our country. We will
celebrate their achievements by learning about their
incredible journey. We hope children will be
inspired by the courage, strength, creativity, and
February 15 — Presidents’ Day talents of our American heroes.
Presidents’ Day honors all past presidents of the United
States. The third Monday of February has been
fittingly selected to commemorate the birthdays of
George Washington, the first President, and Abraham
Lincoln, the 16th president who dedicated his life to
preserving the Union. The school will be closed on
Monday, February 15 in observance of Presidents’ Day.
Used Book Donations
Reading to children is one of the most effective
ways for strong cognitive development. Our
Montessori program includes a rigorous reading
program, and our teachers are always in search of
exciting books to read to the class. We strongly
encourage our parents to donate their child’s used
books to our class library.
We would like to thank Everly Duran who recently
donated boxes full of lovingly used, beautiful
books.

Congratulations, Mackie!
Congratulations to MacGregor Sinclair for winning a
mask design contest through the company Vistaprint.
His mask reads, “Superheroes wear masks too”. Due to
this, our school was the lucky recipient of 500 masks
donated by Vistaprint. Masks will be distributed to each
Preschool and Elementary classroom and all the students
will be receiving their own mask. Mackie has shown
great creativity through his design and we are truly
proud of him.
Uniform Donations
We encourage all our parents

outgrown and gently used
uniforms. Kindly remember
that uniforms are mandatory!
