In rough seas the Officers need to be on the bridge! Prevent the ship from capsizing or even sinking! Only small changes in the course of the ship! Radical manoeuvres are dangerous!!!

Congress 2022
• Short preparation time for LOC
• Ukraine is a direct neighbour to PolandUkraine
24th February: Russian military forces invaded Ukraine and this war is still ongoing
1st March: FIG-Council published a statement disapproving this hostile act and
requesting the Russian government to stop this immediately!
However we did not expel our 5 Russian members (2 MA, 1 AF, 2 AC)
The FIG Statutes are very clear
2.2 The Federation shall abstain from any interference in questions
of a political, racial or religious nature.
2.3 The Federation shall not permit any of its activities to be influenced
by statements or actions of a political, social or religious nature.
FIG is also member of ISC = International Science CouncilUkraine
Due to the special situation / location of the hosting country Poland FIG Council decided
1. FIG-Council declared that Russian delegates and participants
are not welcome at the Congress 2022 in Warsaw (Poland)
2. We did not accept registrations from Russia
3. We rejected Russian abstracts for presentation (they arrived before the 24th Feb)Ukraine
- Before the 24th of February we discussed about COVID19
and how it will affect our Congress ?
- After the 24th of February we discussed in addition … Ukraine
At this point I want to say a big thank you to our local organizers from Poland …
because there were never doubts
whether to stop the organisation of this Congress or not!!
Thank you Barbara, Milka, Krystof, Janusz and all the other helpers
which are not so visible for us Internationals !!COVID19 is not over, but …. We learned to live with it In 2021 FIG could reduce the fee for MAs by 20%
