Language list English Language of Material Italian Context Biographical Note Born in Pistoia, Tuscany, Italy 1886, died in Pistoia 1964; worked as a typesetter and mechanic and wrote in his spare time poems and dramas; from his youth onward a dedicated anarchist, wrote articles for the syndicalist press and edited several journals; became in the 1920s one of the principal opponents of fascism and after the coming of power of Mussolini and a spell in prison he fled to France with several of his comrades; worked in Paris for the Rivista Internazionale Anarchica and founded the journals La Tempra c. 1924-1925 and Iconoclasta c. 1925-1926; continued to work as a type-setter and mechanic and wrote articles for several anarchist journals; after the beginning of the Spanish civil war, in 1936, he went with some comrades to Barcelona; present in 1937 in Marseilles at the foundation of the UAI, the Union of Italian Anarchists; because of persecution by the French authorities he fled to the United States in 1938, settled in New York, became an American citizen and continued his work in the anarchist movement; here he joined the group of Rudolf Rocker; member of the editorial board of Chanteclair. Mensile anti-fascista in New York 1942-1945; returned in 1958 to his native Pistoia and dedicated his last years to the Italian translation of Rockers Nationalism and Culture , which appeared in Naples 1960-1964.
