“How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?” Romans 10:14
Warriors for CHRIST “Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.” 1 Corinthians 16:13 “Consecrate yourselves for tomorrow the LORD will do wonders among you” -- Joshua 3:5 Do you like change? If you ask Katie, she will tell you I do not like change. In fact, when we moved here from Kansas, I said this is the LAST time we will move! However, I have been around people that enjoying moving. They like the change and challenge of going somewhere new. I have also met people that have worked the same job for 40 years and enjoy every minute, while I have some friends that switch jobs every few years and thrive on the change. Regardless if you like change or prefer a nice routine, change can bring challenges and blessings. This is where we find the Israelites in Joshua chapter 3. They are camped on the banks of the Jordan River and Joshua has just announced that tomorrow they will be crossing over into a new land! As the people sat camped, behind them was where they have been for 40 years! A time that the Lord has provided for their every need and were led by Moses. Looking forward, across the Jordan River, they see the new and unfamiliar. They have a new leader, Joshua, who the Lord has been preparing for this time. They also see a land of unknowns. This is not where their feet have tread for 40 years. However, the Lord has instructed them to move forward into this land. This was God’s plan. As the people sat camped for one last night, Joshua asked them to do more than just look. He asked them to consecrate themselves. This meant that everyone was called to bathe. In Scripture, bathing was a picture of a new beginning with the Lord. Also, the people were to devote themselves fully to the Lord. The people were called to be spiritually prepared for the journey God had called them on! Men, I challenge you to join me in preparing for the new that is to come. We have seen the Lord do mighty and amazing things at HFBC and we need to prepare ourselves for the new journey that the Lord has placed us on. Join me in prayer for our new Pastor Bro. John Noble and to prepare ourselves for what the Lord has planned. Blessings -- John

Also joining the team, as our Music and Event Coordinator, is Leslie Lutz. She will be starting a Children’s Choir this fall as well as organizing our SSK events. Watch for more details COMING SOON! I will remain the Preschool & Elementary Ministry Coordinator; focusing on the department as a whole and coordinating our Children’s Sunday School program. NEW Time and Format for Wednesdays Welcome back to a new school year and our new church calendar year! In an effort to give families more time at home for family dinners, our Wednesday night schedule will be 6:45 - 8 pm. SonShine Kids shirts will NOT be required but kids can continue to wear them. This year we will be handing out Memory Verse Lanyard Rings for the year. The verses are numbered and we will post weekly reminders on our FB page. Encourage your kids to memorize these verses weekly. Better yet, parents; challenge yourselves to learn the verses along with your kids. Let’s lead by way of example. Also, don’t forget to encourage your child to bring their bible on Wednesdays and Sundays. NEW Sunday School Curriculum - The Gospel Project We are excited to introduce a new curriculum to our Sunday School classes. We will be studying the Bible chronologically. Teachers will be sending “Big Picture Cards” home for families. There will be instructions sent home on the first card as well. Each card contains a family discussion section with starter questions and also an activity. This is a great way to reinforce the teaching at home after Sunday school class. We will be posting these in our NEW Sunday School Facebook group. “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6 In Christ, Rebecca Davis
