News from the Nest October 2021 Director Update Good evening families! We have a lot of updates and news so please mark your calendars for important dates. First and foremost, thank you all for your patience and understanding over the last month. I think it is safe to say that we are all happy to be back to school. The kids have been great about wearing their masks and following the classroom rules. The teachers are very proud of everyone. On that note, it is more important than ever to keep your sick kids home. We have multiple copies for you to take home of the Colorado guidelines for 'How Sick is too Sick' and always ask one of us if you are unsure whether to keep your child home. In the event of a positive COVID case, we will handle each situation case by case and make the best decisions for each and every one of you and the center. COVID vaccinations and flu shots are readily available for anyone interested. See Kayla for updated dates and sites. Eagles' Nest will not be hosting a Halloween event this year. Instead we will throw a party for all of the classrooms on Thursday, October 28th. Please bring your child in their costume or in a bag for the teachers to help them change into. There are a few extra costumes here that we can lend out as well. Eagles' Nest will provide the students with goodie bags to take home, filled with candy and healthy treats. There will be fun games, crafts, and snacks planned for the day. The preschool classroom will watch Curious George: A Halloween Boo Fest later in the day. This movie is rated for children 3 and older. If you would like to exclude your preschool student from this movie please let Kayla or Alyson know. The center will be undergoing a rating review in February for Colorado Shines. This is a quality rating for childcare centers. We currently sit at a Level 3 and hope to reach the highest rating of a Level 5. Colorado Shines granted us $1,400 to spend of learning materials this year. The children will receive new math and manipulatives, dramatic play props, tables, and many various other learning tools. The teachers have been working on achieving higher credentials and qualifications during this last year. I am pleased to announce that Miss Sammy and Miss Kristen are now officially lead teachers! This is such exciting news and great for the center all around. Congratulations to them both! Eagles' Nest will soon receive a Breastfeeding Friendly Certification within the next month. This program advocates for women to breastfeed and supports them through this time. Eagles' Nest now has a comfortable and private space in the employee lounge for parents and staff who breastfeed. This space was designed to give nursing mothers a piece of mind and relaxation while they feed their baby. Eagles' Nest has many support tools and information available at all times.
The preschool classroom is seeking 10-20 pieces of gently used male and female clothing for their dramatic play area. These items include purses, wallets, shoes, clothing (jackets, blouses, suspenders etc.), and hats. If you have anything you would like to donate we would greatly appreciate it. Fundraising Events!
