Becoming a Clean Living Ambassador isn’t just about the money! Questions the General Public are now beginning to ask: 1. “Should we be accepting the threats cleaning chemicals pose to our families and the wider environment more seriously?” 2. “How can I stop adding to the plastic problem?” 3. “How can I reduce my own carbon footprint?”
• Even after passing through water treatment plants, small quantities of chemical compounds from cleaning products find their way into rivers, ponds and lakes • They affect oxygen levels, which reduces biodiversity and has adverse effects on aquatic life, affecting growth and reproduction in mammals and fish Question 1: “Should we be accepting the threats cleaning chemicals pose to our families and the wider environment more seriously?” “None of us would openly pour cleaning products into our local rivers, but we do by default every day!”
• Houses dispose of around 50 plastic bottles per year • 27 million homes in the UK…do the maths 1,350,000,000 clean product bottles manufactured each year, only to be disposed of in UK! Question 2: “How can I stop adding to the plastic problem?” • Estimated that only 9% of plastics are recycled. • On average each household contributes 50 plastic bottles each year that enter incinerators, landfill or the oceans • ‘Great Pacific Garbage Patch’ is 79,000 tons discarded plastic floating in the Pacific Ocean 1.6 million sq km. That’s just one floating island of plastic…there are others
• The manufacturing process per bottle generates around 80g of carbon dioxide • Manufacturing 1.35 billion bottles, filling them with chemicals, shipping them from factory, to warehouse, to shops, to homes generates more than 100 million metric tons of CO2 per year ….that’s in the UK alone. 25 million cars emit the same CO2 emissions. That’s a lot… Question 3: “How can I reduce my own carbon footprint?” • Plastic bottles are made of resins which are oils and chemicals combined in an energy-intensive manufacturing process. • 1.35 Billion bottles uses 30,000 tones of plastic • Making them requires 500,000 barrels of oil. The numbers are HUGE
Have you ever paused to think about what you’re using to clean your home? • Most of us have grown up believing that the cleaning products we see advertised are effective at keeping our homes clean and healthy, but is that really the case? • If you take time to read the warnings on the back of the bottles you might be surprised. Chemical symbol for harmful to the environment Chemical symbol shows harmful to skin and causes eye irritation Chemical symbol for severe skin burns and eye damage Chemical symbol for flammable for increased fire risk …and we think this is acceptable!
FACT: Whichever way you look at it, the way we currently clean our homes is a DISASTER for the environment SOLUTION: This is exactly why Clean Living was formed
The Clean Living Alternative Our biological cleaning products are made of friendly bacteria, enzymes and water They’re similar in many ways to probiotics, which many people drink to keep healthy. We ship concentrate directly to the home in small sachets. The concentrate is poured into our aluminium bottles which are then topped up with tap water. In other words: • No more plastic bottles • Massive reductions in CO2 emissions • No more hazardous chemicals • We responsibly dispose the sachets after use
