A Sustainable Alternative Established in 2005, lndochine Bio Plastiques (ICBP) Sdn Bhd located in Johor, Malaysia, manufactures biodegradable, biobased and compostable plastic resin from non-food based tapioca starch. ICBP commenced an extensive R&D phase since 2001, thus becoming the leading manufacturer for biobased raw materials in Malaysia. The main focus of ICBP is developing innovative solutions for bioplastics to promote global sustainability at a cost efficient level to plastic converters. 2
ICBP Bio Resin from Tapioca Starch Traditional plastics are currently made from petroleum resin, a non-renewable resource. ICBP vision is to develop an eco-friendly bio resin, an alternative biopolymer using non-food based tapioca starch to create bio plastics. Why ICBP Bio Resin? a) A Sustainable Alternative ICBP Bio Resin utilizes non-food based tapioca starch, which is abundant in supply globally and stable in price. ICBP upcycles second generation feedstock of tapioca into renewable bio resin. b) Cost efficient & improving carbon footprint Viewed as a cost efficient way to produce bioplastic products, manufacturers using ICBP Bio Resin consume approximately 50% less energy due to low temperatures used during production. ICBP Bio Resin also lowers the carbon footprint of the end product as the feedstock carbon footprint starts at zero. c) Versatile & safe Unlike other biopolymers, ICBP Bio Resin can easily be compounded and processed with existing plastic injection machineries with no modification required. It has similar strength characteristics as conventional plastic, non-toxic and safe for food contact applications (US FDA certified). 4
R&D and Products Our commitment to be innovative in products stems from our approach:- • Assist manufacturers to switch from conventional petroleum resin to ICBP Bio Resin • Continuously identifying emerging renewable resources • Adapting to match current performance of plastics and forging new uses for biobased plastic resin • Formulate custom made biopolymers to meet customer demands CMX 4413 Suitable to produce cutleries, chopsticks, tumblers, cups, plates, toys, bowls, thin wall containers CHX 0113 Suitable to produce automotive components, toxic bins, dustbins. 6
ICBP Bio Resin are able to produce a wide range of finished products which include: a) Dining utensils – spoon, fork, knife, cup, bowl, plate & chopsticks b) Household items – bins, clothes hanger & pots c) Golf Tee & Pins d) Food packaging – Thin wall containers e) Automotive Components and other industrial categories 8
