APS Mask Update
APS continues to review the latest health metrics and guidance regarding COVID-19 mitigation measures.
The CDC currently recommends universal masking in K-12 settings. APS will continue to require* masks
inside our schools to keep schools as safe as possible. All students will still be required to wear a mask on a
school bus, because there is a federal requirement to mask on public transit.

We are Stronger Together
APS urges families to consider the progress we have made together to keep
schools open and safe for all.
• We have students and staff who have underlying health conditions, are
immunocompromised, and are considered high risk.
• APS continues the layered prevention strategies as currently recommended
by the CDC and Department of Education for K-12 schools:
   – Vaccinations with boosters when available for all age groups, masks indoors,
COVID testing, COVID response and contact tracing.
• All students and staff are strongly urged to continue to opt-in for the weekly
  testing in school.
• Vaccination rates in Arlington are high for all age groups and the vaccine is
  coming for our youngest children.

                                                                                    5
