June-August 2021 Lake Katherine Nature Center SUMMER GUIDE Summer Camps, Programs, & More SUMMER PROGRAMS WHAT'S BEING OFFERED Join the Lake Katherine Family Programs, Ages 5-9 Education staff and Little Explorers, Ages 3-5 volunteers for an exciting, Summer Camps, Ages 4-12 nature-filled summer! Lake Katherine Nature Center MEET THE STAFF Education TARA ROSENWINKEL Environmental Educator/Naturalist Family Programs, Nature Friends Camp & Nature Buddies Camp Tara oversees the education department and enjoys creating programs to connect people to the outdoors. She has a love for nature, animals and working with the public. In her free time, she enjoys outdoor activities, naps, and trying new foods. BRENDA GEORGE Environmental Educator Family Programs, Junior Explorers, & Forest Explorers Mini Camp Brenda has been a part of the Lake Katherine team for over 15 years! She loves sharing her knowledge and love of nature with kids. Seeing the excitement in their eyes when they discover something new is the best part of her job!
Lake Katherine Nature Center MEET THE STAFF Education EMILY KING Environmental Educator/Volunteer Coordinator Little Explorers & Nature Tots Emily loves being able to connect families to nature and the outdoors. She has a bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Vermont and believes strongly in the importance of sustainability. When she's not at work, she enjoys cooking dinner for friends and hanging out with her pet rabbit. ZOEY GEORGE Camp Counselor Nature Sprouts Camp Zoey has been coming to Lake Katherine since she was born. She has always had a huge passion for the environment and children. She is currently in college majoring in Elementary Education.

Assist a LK Staff with SESSION 2: THURS/FRI reptile care, hike & search for herps, and get out of your shell 9:30-11:30AM with some activities and games. PRICING $50/SESSION Fin-tastic Fish Session 2 Drop-Off July 8-9 Have a fin-tastic time fishing and learning about fish! Create your own lures, fish, and help clean up a fish habitat. *All equipment & bait provided* *Masks must be worn, indoors and outdoors*
Family Programs Enjoy nature together! Our family programs have a little bit of everything for families from crafts to games to hikes. AGES 5-9 Wetland Wonders June 23 WEDNESDAYS Collect specimens from the 10AM-11AM shores of Lake Katherine with nets. Take a closer look at them PRICING $10 under a microscope. Parents attend free Mud Pies June 30 Roll up your sleeves and let's get muddy! Celebrate National Mud Day with us by creating mud pies from items found on a hike. Insects/Cicadas July 7 Learn the parts of an insect, hike outdoors with nets and look up close at these mini beasts. Flower Power Tom Sawyer Fishing August 11 June 9, July 21, & August 4 Learn about the power of flowers Drop a line in this classic Tom and a fun way to transfer the Sawyer style fishing. Junior Explorers Junior Explorers creates a space for friends and potential new friends to enjoy and explore nature together. Little Explorers Our Little Explorers programs are a wonderful opportunity for your little explorer to be inspired and engage with nature. Wetland Wonders June 1 AGES 3-5 Collect specimens from the TUES/THURS shores of Lake Katherine with 10-11AM OR 1-2PM nets. Take a closer look at them PRICING $10 under a microscope. Digging in the Past Parent attends free June 8 & 10 Travel back in time and become a dinosaur detective. Learn all about these giants who once roamed the Earth!
