Explorer Camps Peaks and Paddles: July 5-9 Ages: 9-11 Time: 9:00am - 4:00pm M, T, Th, F; 9:00am - 7:00pm W We will split our time between hiking mountain trails and learning basic canoeing skills, with swimming and other adventures as they arise. An evening campfire rounds out the week. Parents will drop off and pick up their campers at a local trailhead or lake every day. Locations may include Peaked Mountain, Chocorua Lake, Iona Lake, Kezar Pond and Tin Mountain. Member: $220; Non-member: $270 Enrollment: 12 Water Wariors: Advanced Paddling: July 12-16 Ages: 12-15 Time: 9:00am - 4:00pm M-F We’ll bring the gear and you bring yourself to canoe the calm waters of the Mt. Washington Valley. Parents will drop campers off in the morning and pick them up in the afternoon at a local lake. Time in between will be spent canoeing, swimming, and enjoying the natural beauty our area has to offer. Locations may include: Chocorua Lake, Conway Lake, Lovewell Pond, and Iona Lake. Canoeing experience is required. Member: $220; Non-member: $270 Enrollment: 12 Exploring Excellent Ecosystems: July 19-23 Ages: 11-14 Time: 9:00am - 4:00pm M, T, Th, F; 9:00am - 7:00pm W From bogs to barrens; from streams to spruce forests, we’ll spend four days hiking and one canoeing to explore different habitats within the Mt. Washington Valley. The week will be complete with an evening campfire. Each day parents will drop off and pick campers up at a local trailhead. Locations may include: Mt. Potash, Church Pond, Oliverean Brook, Hoyt Preserve, Kezar Pond, and Tin Mountain. Member: $220; Non-member: $270 Enrollment: 12 Peak Adventure Camp: July 26-30 Ages: 13-16 Time: 9:00am - 4:00pm M, T, Th, F; 9:00am - 7:00pm W Get your heart beating on these hiking adventures. We will reach mountain peaks and take in some of the best views in the Mt. Washington Valley. After a single day red-line attempt of the Rockwell Sanctuary, we will enjoy an evening campfire. Parents will drop campers off and pick them up at a local trailhead every day. Locations may include: Mt. Potash, Mt. Hedgehog, Boulder Loop Trail, Mt. Kearsarge, and South Moat Mountain. Hiking experience is required. Member: $220; Non-member: $270 Enrollment: 12 Rolling Stones Camp: August 9-13 Ages: 11-14 Time: 9:00am - 4:00pm M, T, Th, F; 9:00am - 7:00pm W We’ll split our time between biking and hiking to find some of the geologic treasures that the Mt. Washington Valley holds. The week will be complete with an evening campfire. Bikes are NOT provided. Each day parents will drop off and pick campers up at a local trailhead. Locations may include: Saco River Trail, Redstone Quarry, Moat Mineral Site, East Bear Paw, and the Tin Mountain properties in Jackson and Albany. Member: $220; Non-member: $270 Enrollment: 12
Day Camps Jackson Tin Mountaineers: July 5-9 Ages: 7-9 Time: 8:30am - 3:00pm M, T, W; 8:30am -7:00pm Th; 8:30am - 12:00pm F Explore the world of nature catching frogs, turning over logs, examining rocks, watching birds, and hiking mountains. We’ll also enjoy nature crafts and playing games. An evening campfire completes the week. Member: $190; Non-member: $240 Enrollment: 12 Soaked & Slimy Camp, Albany: July 5-9 Ages: 5-7 Time: 8:30am - 3:00pm M-F From slugs to salamanders, and frogs to fungi, we are going to get wet and wild while explor- ing the natural world around us. Hiking, slimy experiments and games; what more could you ask for? Member: $190; Non-member: $240 Enrollment: 12 Jackson Nature Nuts: July 12-16 Ages: 5-7 Time: 8:30am - 3:00pm M-Th; 8:30am - 12:00pm F Come explore the outdoors with us, following paths through the forest, turning over logs, watch- ing birds and catching frogs and insects. Swimming, nature crafts, and playing games round out the week. Member: $180; Non-member: $230 Enrollment: 12 2-Week Nature Nuts, Albany: July 12-23 Ages: 6-9 Time: 8:30am - 3:00pm M-F Discover the world of nature through forest forays, pond explorations, rock collecting, hiking and nature crafts at the Rockwell Sanctuary. The second week includes an evening campfire. There will always be plenty of time for games and making new friends. Member: $360; Non-member: $410 Enrollment: 12 Tamworth Tin Mountaineers: July 19-23 Ages: 7-10 Time: 8:30am- 3:00pm M, T, W, F; 8:30am-7:00pm Th Follow paths through the forest, stalk frogs in the pond, watch birds flitter in the field, partake in the intense competitions of the Bug Olympics, take in the epic views from the top of Lar- com Mountain and so much more. There will also be time for swimming, nature art, playing games and an evening campfire. Member: $190; Non-member: $240 Enrollment: 12 Nature’s Masterpieces, Albany: July 26-30 Ages: 8-12 Time: 8:30am - 3:00pm M, T, W, F; 8:30am -7:00pm Th We will explore the world through the eyes of an artist as we explore the Rockwell Sanctuary. We will paint with watercolors, take photographs, and create other unique works of art. The week will be rounded out with an evening campfire and art show. Member: $190; Non-member: $240 Enrollment: 12 Winging it in Tamworth, Tamworth: July 26-30 Ages: 5-8 Time: 8:30am - 3:00pm M-F From birds to butterflies, and bats to beetles, we will explore the fields and forests to discover the amazing adaptations that allow flying animals to survive. Day Camps (cont.) Fryeburg Wilderness Survival: August 2-6 Ages: 8-11 Time: 8:30am - 3:00pm M, T, W; 8:30am-7:00pm Th; 8:30am - 12:00pm F What would you do if you were lost in the woods? We will begin to learn some of the skills that you may need when in a wilderness survival situation. Safely starting a fire with and without matches, shelter building, finding water, and wilderness navigation are some of the skills that we’ll work on. The camp will be complete with an evening campfire. Member: $190; Non-member: $240 Enrollment: 12 Nature Sprouts Kindercamp, Albany: August 2-6 Ages: 4-5 Time: 8:30am - 12:00pm Kindercampers love catching frogs and bugs, singing songs, sharing stories, and playing outdoors. Join us for a week of sensory exploration of the fields, forests and wetland at the Rockwell Sanctuary. Member: $130; Non-member: $180 Enrollment: 10 Fryeburg Woodland Wildlife Camp: August 9-13 Ages: 5-7 Time: 8:30am - 3:00pm M-Th; 8:30am - 12:00pm F Animals are everywhere at wildlife camp. We’ll catch insects, discover procupine dens, find where birds build their nests, and much more. We might even spot a deer! Swimming and nature crafts round out our week. Member: $180; Non-member: $230 Enrollment: 12 Energy Extravaganza, Albany: August 9-13 Ages: 7-10 Time: 8:30am - 3:00pm M, T, W, F; 8:30am - 7:00pm Th Plants use the sun for photosynthesis; we will build solar ovens to cook s’mores. Beavers build dams to improve their chances of survival; we will build dams that can turn a turbine. This week we are going to learn the role that the sun, wind, and water play in the ecosystem and how we can use them to produce energy for ourselves. Locations Tin Mountain Nature Learning Center, Albany The Nature Learning Center stands surrounded by 300 acres of woodlands complete with trails that lead to Chase Pond, a historic granite quarry, a beaver lodge and much, much more. Wildlife, insects, birds and wild- flowers fill the fields surrounding the 1800’s barn. Swimming will be at nearby Iona Lake. Field Station, Jackson Tin Mountain’s original home, the Field Station is nestled among spruce and fir forests on the side of Tin Mountain. The 228 acres include fields, forests, trails and ponds plus views of the White Mountains including Mt. Washington. Trails lead to the old Dundee Rd, a historic tin mine, “Pond Four”, a cellar hole and the top of Tin Mountain. A swim- ming hole on the Ellis River provides the perfect place to cool off. Little Chatham Road, Fryeburg Our beautiful post-and-beam camp building lies nestled among the majes- tic white pine forests of the 800-acre Burnell Family Forest. Here you’ll also find cellar holes from the abanded village of Little Chatham, vernal pools, wetlands and wildlife. Swimming is in the Saco River at Weston’s Beach. The Mountain Road, S. Tamworth Expansive views from the mountain meadows of the South Tamworth camp include Mt. Chocorua, hayfields, and the northern forests. Our summer camp is located in an old pas- ture complete with stone walls and apple trees. From here, footpaths lead to a swimming hole on Cold Brook and the summit of Little Larcom Mountain.
