SUMMER TRIPS 2019 Hello Students and Parents! Summer will soon be here and it’s time to start thinking about our summer trips! Our desire is for students to have the opportunity to build relationships with one another, while deepening their relationship with Jesus. We are excited about the trips and hope you plan to join us! Below are just snapshots of each trip we are offering this summer. The other pages of the packet will provide more information about each trip. Before registering for trips, students must complete and turn in the Trip Interest Form which is the last page of this packet. Vacation Bible School When? June 10th – 14th Who? 6th - 12th Grades completed Cost? Free! Student Impact Week When? June 24th – 27th Who? 8th - 12th Grades completed Cost? $25 Stowe Mission Service Projects & Block Parties When? Throughout Summer Where? Stowe Mission Columbus (888 Parsons Ave) Who? 8th - 12th Grades completed Cost? Free Seneca Lake Youth Camp When? July 1st – 5th Who? 6th - 8th Grades completed Cost? $200 Momentum When? July 16th – 21st Who? 9th - 12th Grades completed Trip Interest Form must be turned into church PRIOR TO REGISTERING for trip on Momentum’s website Cost? $463, if $75 deposit is registered by March 31st. Cost increases $25 more per month until June 15th. Full amount is due by June 15th. Worship Camp When? July 15th – August 12th (Monday nights) Who? 6th - 12th Grades completed Where? Who: Middle and High School Students going on any summer trip When: Rummage Sale Shifts: April 26th-27th Sorting /Organizing/ Setup Shifts: April 23rd-25th Where: Grace Powell Church What: Students will be able to work shifts the week of the rummage sale to help setup, sort and organize items for the sale. They will also be able to work shifts during the Rummage Sale on Friday and Saturday. Parents are welcome to serve alongside their student during those shifts and we ask Middle School parents to join their middle schooler for their shifts. Why: We will be holding a Rummage Sale at Grace Powell Church to help raise money for students to attend summer trips. More Info: As you do your “spring cleaning” please consider donating items for the sale. We are looking for donations of: Clothing * Furniture * Games * Toys * Books * Tools Home décor items * Sporting Equipment * Electronics * Holiday Décor Please note: we cannot accept donations of major appliances, car seats, cribs/bassinets, mattresses, potty chairs (toddler and adult) and breast pumps. Items may be dropped off at the church April 23rd – 25th between 9:00-5:00 (or during youth group). Clothing must be presorted and bagged according to gender and size. Please prayerfully consider supporting our students through donating items and shopping at the sale. Help us spread the word by inviting your friends to shop! Vacation Bible School Who: Middle and High School Students (6th-12th grades completed) When: June 10th – 14th during the morning Where: Grace Powell Church Cost: FREE! Registration: Step 1: Turn in Trip Interest form to Pastor Jon Step 2: Register through our church website, gracepowellchurch.com starting April 10th. Focus: This is an opportunity to help pour-in to our church’s outreach through VBS and help students learn how to serve and have a positive impact on those around them. Students will be partnering with other students and wonderful, adult volunteers to serve and build relationships with the kids who attend VBS. Theme: Power Up: Raise Your Game (video game theme) Schedule: As soon as the Vacation Bible School schedule is finalized (closer to date of VBS) we will be sending out a schedule for the week to those who are registered.
Student Impact Week Who: Middle and High School Students (8th-12th grades completed) When: June 24th – 27th Where: Various places around Columbus What: We will be going out into the community to serve in a variety of ways. Cost: $25 (covers cost for t-shirt, meals, and supplies) Registration: Step 1: Turn in Trip Interest form to Pastor Jon Step 2: Register through our church website, gracepowellchurch.com starting April 10th. Focus: Jesus never intended for our church to be about us and four walls. He has called us to go out and serve, love, and share the Gospel with our community. This week will be an incredible opportunity to meet the physical needs of the community as a bridge to sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with them. Schedule: Once service opportunities are finalized, (closer to the trip date) those registered will final schedule for the week.
Seneca Lake Youth Camp Who: Middle School Students (6th-8th grades completed) When: July 1st – 5th Where: Seneca Lake Youth Camp (55819 Skyline Drive, Senecaville, OH 43780) What: Seneca Lake Youth Camp is a student camp near Seneca Lake, Ohio. Seneca Lake Youth Camp is an amazing week and includes morning and evening worship sessions, free time to swim, participate in various sports tournaments, and hang with friends. Students will also participate in a series of fun, team games known as Color Wars. Why: At Seneca Lake, students will be challenged to strengthen their relationship with Jesus. This will be done through challenging messages from the week’s speaker and worship will be led by Joe & Chloe Bennet. Students will also participate in church time and cabin time with other students from our student ministry to discuss what they are learning. The students will also have a blast through various large group games, tournaments, color wars, etc. Cost: $200. This covers all transportation, lodging, meals, and camp costs. Financial Aid: We will be doing a church-wide Rummage sale to help raise funds and lower costs for students. (SEE PAGE 2) Schedule: Leave: We will leave on the afternoon of July 1st. Back: We will be back on the afternoon of July 5th.
MOMENTUM 2019 Who: High School Students (9th-12th grades completed) Trip Interest Form NEEDS TO BE TURNED INTO PASTOR JON PRIOR to registering on Momentum’s website) When: July 16th – 21st Where: Indiana Wesleyan University – Marion, Indiana What: Momentum Conference - A yearly gathering of over 2,000 students from all over the country. Why: Because concentrated time away from our normal lives focused on God, the lost, and ministry produces life change. Cost: $463 ($75 deposit due by March 31st Cost increases $25 more per month until June 15th. Full amount is due by June 15th.) Includes: 5 nights lodging; lunch and dinner starting with dinner on Tuesday, July 16th through dinner on Saturday, July 20th (see additional, optional fee for breakfast online); and all programming, including main sessions, training tracks, and breakout groups. Registration: Step 1: Turn in Trip Interest form to Pastor Jon (BEFORE REGISTERING) Step 2: Register through http://buildmomentum.org/register.html Info needed at registration: • Youth Group Name: Grace Powell Church • We will not be arriving “early” • We encourage you to purchase/add a breakfast plan. Once you register, our church is notified who is signed up from our group. Focus: This will be great time to hear and be challenged by incredible speakers, great praise and worship, bond as a group, and be a part of something bigger than us. This trip does have a service/mission aspect to it. Financial Aid: We will be doing a church-wide Rummage sale, April 26th-27th - to help raise fund and lower costs for students. Who: Any incoming 7th-12th grade who wants to grow in their ability to play an instrument/sing, and lead in corporate worship. Students who would like to play for the Student Worship Team. When: Sunday July 15th Monday July 22nd Monday July 29th Monday August 5th Monday August 12th Where: Grace Powell Church Basement What: The first night will be an introduction night where Jared, our Student Worship Intern, will share important information regarding the Student Worship Team. The following four sessions will focus on helping students develop and grow their abilities and learn worship songs that will be played throughout the school year. Each instrument will have a teacher to guide students in growing in their skill to play/sing and use that to lead worship. Why: We want to equip our students as much as we can to effectively lead congregational worship if they have the desire to do so. We believe that the most effective way to do that is to help them grow in their ability to play their main instrument and show them what worship is all about.
