This week’s Fruit of the Holy Spirit focus is Love. Love is a variety of different feelings, states, and attitudes that ranges from interpersonal affection to pleasure. It can refer to an emotion of a strong attraction and personal attachment like when you love your Mum and Dad or when you love your brother and sister. Love might look like you’re doing a kind thing for someone. It can be help- ing out at a rest home and reading to someone elderly. You are challenged this week to think about how can you show the Fruit of the Holy Spirit, Love, at school? YUMMY STICKERS– Keep eating those apples; we are still collecting stickers. Feedback opened on Wednesday 7 April and closes at 5pm on Friday, 7 May. Our plan, which is reviewed and updated every three years, is asking three key ques%ons this %me around. We want to know what general rate increase op%on you prefer, if we should sell our pensioner housing and if we should con%nue our inorganic kerbside rubbish collec%on service. At the same %me, we’ll also be asking for feedback on user fees and charges, our development contribu%ons policy and the community hall catchment review. If our preferred op%on is supported, ratepayers will face a ‘go hard and go early’ 9% average general rate increase in year 1 (2021/22) and then 3.5% for year 2 and 3 of the plan. The other op%on, a more cau%ous approach, sets the general rate increase at 7% in year 1, 6% in year 2 and 4% in year 3. Food and Nutrition We have noticed more and more children coming to school in the morning eating bakery items for breakfast or being delivered hot food ie – Hot Chips, Pies, Fried Chicken, Donuts etc, to school at lunchtime. As this practice is not part of our Food and Nutritian Policy, we ask that children bring a healthy, nutritious lunch to school each day and only drink water at school. Treats can be given after school or at the weekends. Maybe you could make eating breakfast and making school lunches at home a family time activity, even if it means getting up half an hour earlier. Below is our Healthy Food and Nutrician Policy. BANK ACCOUNT - - - - -DETAILS - - - - FOR - - -DIRECT CREDIT. Educating students about nutrition and encouraging healthy eating habits contributes to their personal success and well-being, and to a healthier community for everyone. Promoting healthy food choices Healthy food choices are important to establish in childhood to support the child's immediate physical and mental growth and development, and to set behaviours for the future. We encourage and educate our students to be responsible for their own health. We deliver clear and consistent messages about nutrition by: • ensuring that any food provided by/through school follows national food and nutrition guidelines • incorporating nutrition education across the curriculum, including the health programme • encouraging staff members to model healthy food choices • communicating our nutrition messages to the wider school community in various ways, including the newsletter • acknowledging the cultural diversity of our community with our nutrition messages • considering our nutrition messages when deciding on class rewards and celebrations, student prizes, fundraising activities, and school camp menus • encouraging water as the best drinking option • participating only in food-related events and initiatives that support healthy eating practices e.g. Health Promoting Schools, 5+ a Day, Heart Foundation's Healthy Heart Award and its School Food Programme, and Jump Rope for Heart actively promoting physical activity as the partner of good nutrition.
