TERM 4 Week 5 Thursday, 16 November 2017 Message from the Principal It has been a busy week this week with swimming starting for our Year 0-2 learners. They have embraced their new challenge and teachers are already seeing progress being made, particularly with confidence and water safety. Yesterday we had three groups of Year 5-8 learners representing our school out in the community as well. Firstly, we had a group of senior kapahaka children supporting the blessing of the new Warehouse Store. Then we had our first ever jump jam team performing in the Community of Learning jump jam extravaganza at Lemonwood Grove School. This jump jam team was open to any year 5-6 learners and we had five children commit to the daily practices and show real dedication. Well done to Carter, Ray (absent for performance), Sammy, Ella and Jahna. Finally, a group of Year 7 learners were identified for their leadership skills to be involved in the Be Inspired Conference at Christ’s College. Thanks to our hard- working staff who enable these opportunities to happen and to parents who support our adventures with health and safety and transport. Thankyou to our three trainee teachers who finish their placement at our school today. All the best with your teaching careers. Please check out a lovely letter later in this newsletter that some of our awesome learners received. And we are on the hunt for a vistab sponsor please for our health and safety sign in ipad. (see info later in the Newsletter) Thank you to our community for completing our community survey. We used this information to help inform the BoT’s strategic planning day on Saturday. Simon McDermott, our BoT Chairperson, will summarise the findings and actions from the day in due course. Just a reminder tomorrow is a public holiday so school is closed! Have a lovely and safe show weekend.
