Gracious Father,
whose blessed Son Jesus Christ came from heaven to be the true bread
which gives life to the world, evermore give us this bread,

He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. Holy God, we confess that we do not trust You fully. We put our
hope in worldly gain and in human promises and find ourselves
defeated and lost when things fall apart.
You have given us a love more fully than anything we could
experience in this world, but we do not seek it, we do not hold on to
it, and we look to our own means of assurance and security.
Forgive us.
Call us back to You that we may put our trust in You and not be
afraid.
May we hear the words so clearly as the disciples did; may we rise
up, and not be afraid. In the name of Jesus, who loves us and offers
us forgiveness, we pray. Amen.
You are God’s Beloved; with you, God is well pleased.

The love of Jesus calls us, that we may always be companions on a journey, where all the world may see that serving Christ is freedom which time does not destroy; where Christ’s command is duty, and every duty joy. The love of Jesus calls us to go where he would go, to challenge all that limits, to change, to learn, to grow, to know that Christ has freed us, that prisons are no more; for those who seek his kingdom, Christ opens every door. The love of Jesus calls us in swiftly changing days, to be God’s co-creators in new and wondrous ways; that God with men and women may so transform the earth, that love and peace and justice may give God’s kingdom birth. Thank be to God. Organ Postlude Chaconne Louis Couperin (1626-1661) Scott Bradford writes, Louis was the first member of the Couperin dynasty of the 17th & 18th C. known as the French Baroque period. His writing exhibits aggressive use of dissonance and extravagant ornamentation. Although this Chaconne was conceived for harpsichord, its grandiose, dramatic and energetic spirit is very suited to the colourful and intense recipe of the French Baroque organ - called the ‘Grand Jeux’ comprising trompettes, cornets and cromornes.
