Sentence
I am the good shepherd, says the Lord: I know my own and my own know
me. John 10:14

Opening Hymn #520 (Common Praise – Canada)
The King of love my shepherd is,
whose goodness faileth never;
I nothing lack if I am his
and he is mine forever.

Where streams of living water flow,
my ransomed soul he leadeth,
and where the verdant pastures grow,
with food celestial feedeth.

Perverse and foolish oft I strayed,
but yet in love he sought me,
and on his shoulder gently laid,
and home rejoicing brought me.

In death's dark vale I fear no ill
with thee, dear Lord, beside me;
thy rod and staff my comfort still,
thy cross before to guide me.

Thou spread’st a table in my sight;
thy unction grace bestoweth;
and O what transport of delight
from thy pure chalice floweth!

And so through all the length of days
thy goodness faileth never;
good Shepherd, may I sing thy praise
within thy house forever!

The Greeting
Alleluia. Christ is risen.
He is risen indeed. Alleluia.

Praise the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
He has given us new life and hope.
He has raised Jesus from the dead.

God has claimed us as his own.
He has brought us out of darkness.
He has made us light to the world.

Alleluia. Christ is risen.
He is risen indeed. Alleluia.

Almighty God,
to you all hearts are open, all desires known, and from you no secrets
are hidden. Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of
your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and worthily
magnify your holy name; through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Glory to God
Glory to God in the highest,
and peace to his people on earth.

Lord God, heavenly King,
almighty God and Father,
we worship you, we give you thanks,
we praise you for your glory.
Lord Jesus Christ, only Son of the Father,
          Lord God, Lamb of God,

          you take away the sin of the world; have mercy on us;
          you are seated at the right hand of the Father; receive our prayer.

          For you alone are the Holy One
          you alone are the Lord,

          you alone are the Most High,
          Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit,
          in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

          The Collect
          O God of peace, who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus Christ,
          that great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant,
          make us perfect in every good work to do your will, and work in us that
          which is well-pleasing in your sight; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
          Amen.

         Gradual Hymn #514 (Common Praise – Canada)
         Jesus, joy of our desiring,
         holy wisdom, love most bright;
         drawn by thee, our souls aspiring
soar to uncreated light.
         Word of God, our flesh that fashioned,
         with the fire of life impassioned,
         striving still to truth unknown,
         soaring, dying round thy throne.

         Through the way where hope is guiding,
         hark, what peaceful music rings,
         where the flock, in thee confiding,
         drink of joy from deathless springs.
         Theirs is beauty's fairest pleasure;
         theirs is wisdom's holiest treasure.
         Thou dost ever lead thine own
         in the love of joys unknown.

         Homily

         The Summary of the Law
         Hear the teaching of Christ:
         you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your
         soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. This is the
         first commandment.

         And a second is this:
         You shall love your neighbour as yourself.

         Intercessions

         Confession and Absolution
         Holy God, we confess that we do not trust You fully. We put our
         hope in worldly gain and in human promises, and
         find ourselves defeated and lost when things fall apart.

         You have given us a love more fully than anything we could
         experience in this world but we do not seek it, we do not hold on to
         it, and we look to our own means of assurance and security.

         Forgive us.
Call us back to You that we may put our trust in You and not be
afraid.

May we hear the words so clearly as the disciples did; may we rise
up, and not be afraid. In the name of Jesus, who loves us and offers
us forgiveness, we pray. Amen.

You are God’s Beloved; with you, God is well pleased.
You are renewed and restored. You are forgiven and loved.
You are a new creation in Christ, everything old has passed away; see,
everything is becoming new.
Go and share the good news of God’s love.

The Peace
Christ is our Peace.
If anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation.
The old has passed away: behold, everything has become new.

The Peace of the Lord be always with you.
And also with you.

Hymn #216 (Common Praise - Canada)
Ye choirs of new Jerusalem,
your sweetest notes employ,
the paschal victory to hymn
in strains of holy joy.

For Judah's lion bursts his chains,
crushing the serpent's head,
and cries aloud through death's domains
to wake the imprisoned dead.
Devouring depths of hell their prey
at his command restore;
his ransomed hosts pursue their way
where Jesus goes before.

Triumphant in his glory now
to him all power is given;
to him in one communion bow
all saints in earth and heaven.

All glory to the Father be,
all glory to the Son,
all glory, Holy Ghost to thee,
while endless ages run.

Prayer over the Gifts
God of loving care, you spread before us the table of life, and give us the
cup of salvation to drink. Keep us always in the fold of your Son Jesus
Christ, our Saviour and our shepherd.
Amen.

The Great Thanksgiving Eucharistic Prayer IV Scottish Liturgy 1982

The Lord be with you.
And also with you.

Lift up your hearts.
We lift them to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right to give thanks and praise.

Worship and praise belong to you, Author of all being.
Your power sustains, your love restores, our broken world.
You are unceasingly at work,
from chaos bringing order
and filling emptiness with life.

Christ, raised from the dead,
proclaims the dawn of hope.
He lives in us that we may walk in light.

Your Spirit is fire in us,
your breath is power
to purge our sin
and warm our hearts to love.

As children of your redeeming purpose,
freed by him who burst from the tomb
and opened the gate of life,
we offer you our praise,
with angels and archangels
and the whole company of heaven,
singing the hymn of your unending glory:

Sanctus and Benedictus
Holy, holy, holy, Lord, God of power and might,
Heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.

Praise and thanksgiving be to you, Lord of all,
for by the Cross eternal life is ours
and death is swallowed up in victory.
In the first light of Easter
glory broke from the tomb
and changed the women's sorrow into joy.
From the Garden the mystery dawned
that he whom they had loved and lost
is with us now
in every place for ever.

Making himself known in the breaking of the bread,
speaking peace to the fearful disciples,
welcoming weary fishermen on the shore,
he renewed the promise of his presence
and of new birth in the Spirit
who sets the seal of freedom on your sons and daughters.

Before he was given up to suffering and death,
recalling the night of Israel's release,
the night in which slaves walked free,
at supper with his disciples
he took bread and offered you thanks.
He broke the bread,
and gave it to them, saying:
"Take, eat.
This is my Body: it is broken for you."

After supper, he took the cup,
he offered you thanks,
and gave it to them saying:
"Drink this, all of you.
This is my Blood of the new covenant;
it is poured out for you, and for all,
that sins may be forgiven.
Do this in remembrance of me."

We now obey your Son's command
We recall his blessed passion and death,
his glorious resurrection and ascension;
and we look for the coming of his Kingdom.
Made one with him, we offer you these gifts
and with them ourselves
a single, holy living sacrifice.
Hear us, most merciful Father,
and send your Holy Spirit upon us
and upon this bread and this wine,
that, overshadowed by his life-giving power,
they may be the Body and Blood of your Son,
and we may be kindled with the fire of your love
and renewed for the service of your Kingdom.

Help us, who are baptised into the fellowship of Christ's Body
to live and work to your praise and glory;
may we grow together in unity and love
until at last, in your new creation,
we enter into our heritage
in the company of the Virgin Mary,
the apostles, and prophets,
and of all our brothers and sisters living and departed.

Through Jesus Christ our Lord,
with whom, and in whom,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
all honour and glory be to you,
Lord of all ages,
world without end.

The Lord’s Prayer
And now, as Christ has taught us, we pray,
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass
against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, for ever and ever.
Amen.
The Breaking of the Bread
Most merciful Lord,
your love compels us to come in. Our hands were unclean, our hearts
were unprepared; we were not fit even to eat the crumbs from under
your table. But you, Lord, are the God of our salvation, and share
your bread with sinners. So cleanse and feed us with the precious
body and blood of your Son, that he may live in us and we in him;
and that we, with the whole company of Christ, may sit and eat in
your kingdom. Amen.

Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world, have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world, grant us peace.

Alleluia! Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us.
Therefore let us keep the feast. Alleluia!

For those who do not have a consecrated Host, you are invited to pray one of the following.

God our Father, whose Son our Jesus Christ in a wonderful Sacrament has left us a
memorial of his Passion: Grant us so to venerate the sacred mysteries of his Body and
Blood, that we may ever perceive within ourselves the fruit of his redemption; who lives and
reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

In union, O Lord with the faithful at every altar of thy Church, where the Holy Eucharist
is celebrated, I desire to offer you praise and thanksgiving. I present to you my soul and
body with the earnest wish that I may always be united to you. And since I can not now
receive you sacramentally, I beseech you to come spiritually into my heart. I unite myself to
you, and embrace you with all the affections of my soul. Let nothing ever separate you from
me. May I live and die in your love. Amen.

Communion Hymn (Common Praise - Canada)
The God of love my Shepherd is,
And he that doth me feed;
While he is mine and I am his,
What can I want or need?
He leads me to the tender grass,
Where I both feed and rest;
Then to the streams that gently pass:
In both I have the best.

Or if I stray, he doth convert,
And bring my mind in frame;
And all this not for my desert,
But for his holy name.
Yea, in death’s shady black abode
Well may I walk, not fear;
For thou art with me; and thy rod
To guide, thy staff to bear.

Nay, thou dost make me sit and dine,
Ev’n in mine enemies’ sight:
My head with oil, my cup with wine
Runs over day and night.
Surely thy sweet and wondrous love
Shall measure all my days;
And, as it never shall remove,
So neither shall my praise.

Motet Here is Thy footstool Paul Creston
Here is thy footstool and there rest thy feet where live the poorest, and lowliest, and lost.
When I try to bow to thee my obeisance cannot reach down to the depth where thy feet rest among the
poorest, and lowliest, and lost.
Pride can never approach to where thou walkest in the clothes of the humble among the poorest, and
lowliest, and lost.
My heart can never find its way to where thou keepest company with the companionless among the
poorest, the lowliest, and the lost.
Prayers after Communion
God of steadfast love, watch over the Church redeemed by the blood of
your Son. May we who share in these holy mysteries come safely to your
eternal kingdom, where there is one flock and one shepherd. We ask this
in the name of Jesus Christ the risen Lord.
Amen.

Almighty God, giver of all good things, we thank you for feeding us with
the spiritual food of the precious body and blood of our Saviour, Jesus
Christ. We thank you for your love and care in assuring us of your gift of
blessed life and uniting us with the company of all faithful people.

Therefore, everliving God, keep us steadfast in your holy fellowship.
And now we offer ourselves, all that we have and are, to serve you
faithfully in the world, through Jesus Christ our Redeemer, to whom
with you and the Holy Spirit be all honour and glory, now and for
ever. Amen.

Concluding Hymn #323 (Common Praise - Canada)
Ye holy angels bright,
who wait at God's right hand,
or through the realms of light
fly at your Lord's command,
assist our song,
for else the theme
too high doth seem
for mortal tongue.

Ye blessèd souls at rest,
who ran this earthly race,
and now, from sin released,
behold the Saviour's face,
your praises sound
as in God's sight
with sweet delight
ye do abound.

Ye saints, who toil below,
adore your heavenly King,
and onward as ye go
some joyful anthem sing;
in God rejoice,
and thus proclaim
the holy name
with sounding voice.

My soul, bear thou thy part,
triumph in God above,
and with a well-tuned heart
sing thou the songs of love!
Let all thy days
till life shall end,
whate'er God send,
be filled with praise.
