ST. JANE FRANCES DE CHANTAL CHURCH October 24, 2021 EASTON, PENNSYLVANIA My Dear Parishioners, This weekend at Saint Jane’s is a special Ɵme. We have been focusing upon the presence of our Lord in the Eucharist. On Friday we began a special Ɵme of EucharisƟc AdoraƟon modeled upon the tradiƟonal Forty Hours DevoƟons. During this Ɵme, except for Ɵmes when Mass 7KH5RVDU\LVSUD\HG0RQGD\WKURXJK)ULGD\DQG was being celebrated, the Eucharist was exposed upon the RQ6DWXUGD\DW$0 altar during the day, and we were all encouraged to take 7KH&KDSOHWRI6W0LFKDHOWKH$UFKDQJHOLVSUD\HG IROORZLQJWKH$00DVV0RQGD\WKURXJK)ULGD\ some Ɵme to “visit” the church to pray before the Blessed DQGRQ6DWXUGD\DIWHUWKH$00DVV Sacrament. Here in the Diocese of Allentown, we have been celebraƟng Saturday, October 23—St. John of Capistrano the “Year of the Real Presence.” Bishop Schlert proclaimed 9:00 Patrick Ford this observance this past June, on the feast of Corpus Vigil: October 23 —Thirtieth Sunday in ChrisƟ, the solemnity of the Body and Blood of our Lord. It Ordinary Time was at that Ɵme that we began to come to some normalcy 5:00 Arleen S. Kocher during this COVID-19 pandemic when so many were Sunday, October 24 —Thirtieth Sunday in prevented from coming to the Eucharist. Our Bishop Ordinary Time observed “the real presence of Jesus Christ in the Holy 8:00 George Mosellie Eucharist is the center of our Diocesan life. I look forward 10:00 Ramon A. Nieves to the Ɵme when all of us can be ‘really present’ at the 12:00 Lauren Sole & Nancy Cicillini (Mass for Mass.” the Living) It is against this background that we focus this year upon Monday, October 25– Weekday the real presence of Our Lord in the Eucharist. Our Forty 6:30 Carl Mancino Hours observance will conclude with a solemn celebraƟon 8:15 Helen Maughan of the presence of our Lord Jesus in prayer, acclamaƟon and song. It will be held at 4 PM on Sunday. This will include Tuesday, October 26—Weekday BenedicƟon of the Blessed Sacrament and a EucharisƟc 6:30 Bobby Williams (Mass for the Living) procession. Our guest preacher for the closing ceremonies 8:15 Barbara Bucciagli will be Father Bernard Ezaki, who was formerly a parochial Wednesday, October 27—Weekday vicar here at our parish. We will also be joined by other 6:30 Antonina Ippolito priests of the Diocese, many of whom have a special 8:15 John Middleton connecƟon to our parish. The Holy Eucharist is at the heart of the mystery of our Thursday, October 28 –Sts Simon and Jude faith. In this Sacrament, our Lord Jesus oīers Himself to us 6:30 Dale Geuss as spiritual food, and presents Himself to us as the Bread of 8:15 Anthony & Mary Alfier EverlasƟng Life. Our Catholic faith teaches that the body Friday, October 29 –Weekday and blood, together with the soul and divinity of our Lord, 6:30 Daniel Boyle and therefore, the whole Christ, is contained in this 8:15 Ruthann Halley wonderful Sacrament. The doctrine of the real presence of 8:15 Paul Reale (school) Christ in the Eucharist is central to our faith. One of the ways that we express this faith is through the pracƟce of Saturday, October 30— Weekday BVM EucharisƟc AdoraƟon: we oīer our prayers and worship to 9:00 Cremina Barreto the Jesus who is contained in the Sacrament of His body Vigil: October 30 —Thirtieth-First Sunday in Ordinary Time and blood. 5:00 Johanna Varga Please plan on being a part of the closing celebraƟon this Sunday aŌernoon, October 24th. As a parish, it will be a Sunday, October 31 —Thirtieth-First Sunday wonderful opportunity for us to express EucharisƟc faith in Ordinary Time and devoƟon. As individuals, it will be a chance for us to 8:00 Joel Curran grow closer to our Lord through our devoƟon to Him in this 10:00 Florence Bertolotti wonderful Sacrament. 12:00 Martin Gripp Sincerely yours, Monsignor Radocha

A long-dreamed about project has finally begun. With the help of our dedicated parishioners, we have undertaken the beginnings of the building of a new parish center and gymnasium here on the property of St. Jane Frances de Chantal Church! This venture will include a full court basketball court, along with meeting pods to accommodate our many parish groups and ministries. There will be a full kitchen, and when completely open, a social hall to seat 200 people. Our goal is to break ground some time in 2022. To accomplish this task, we have begun a capital campaign to get together the necessary funding. Our campaign is being titled “Together in Faith – Building Our Future”. Before each Mass, during the campaign, we will be praying for its success. Already, so many parishioners have demonstrated a wonderful spirit of sacrifice in pledging over $1.8 million for this work. We hope to raise $5 million through this campaign for a project which is estimated to cost $6 million. Please be open to the information which will be shared with you over the next few weeks. There will be presentations here in church. You will also be receiving a mailing detailing some of the work to be done, and the ways that you can participate in this exciting project. If each of our parishioners would prayerfully consider his or her level of support – each according to ability – we will certainly be suc- cessful in making this dream come true!
