Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time February 27, 2022 My brothers and sisters in Christ, PARISH PROJECT FOR NEXT CHRISTMAS I pray that you find time before Wednesday to prepare for the great 40 day fast. We need 40 days because we need once again to rid ourselves of spiritual malaise and attachments that weigh us down. We need to take up practices that make us act less like hea- thens and more like Christians. We need a break from what has driven us from God (and one another) and set off towards the Lord once again. We have the gift of the target date – Easter. Eve- ry Sunday, in the penitential rite of the Mass, before hearing God’s word and celebrating the Eucharist, we do the same thing – set out once again by acknowledging our sins. We make a quick act of contrition saying, “I confess...” Reflecting on the words of this prayer may be helpful for your Lenten preparation. Who do I have to make amends to? What sins am I truly sorry for? What word? What thoughts? What actions and failures to act on?...Do I regret?
