RTES eNEWS – May 8, 2020 Capture a Memory… Thank you to everyone who shared a spring break photo with us. May Starfish Project Ready for our next project? First responders and health care professionals have been inspirational during the Coronavirus Pandemic. We would like to be able to thank first responders and health care professionals in our local community for all that they continue to do for us. We are inviting students to write a thank you note to a first responder or health care professional using one of the templates at the end of the eNEWS or simply on a sheet of paper. Either way, please take a photo of the note, and email it to rosetree1101@gmail.com. All notes received will be shared with local first responders and health care professionals. Thank you for participating in this project! Lifetouch Spring Pictures Lifetouch Spring Picture proof sheets were sent home prior to school closing. If you would like to place an order for the Lifetouch spring pictures, go to mylifetouch.com. You will need to enter a Picture Day ID or Portrait ID from your proof sheet. If you can’t find your proof sheet call 1-800-736-4753 and Lifetouch will help locate your credentials. Free shipping to your homes will be available until May 31, 2020, when you order on mylifetouch.com with promo code SMILES. Note: If you are a family who submitted an order prior to school closing and would now rather order online, please email me at your earliest convenience. Those orders will be mailed to Lifetouch this week unless otherwise informed. Encore Classes The Encore teachers have planned fun, engaging, and worthwhile activities for each of the special area subjects. Select this Link to Encore Classes to see next week’s Encore opportunities for Art, Library, Music, and Physical Education. The first week of Virtual meetings with our Encore teachers was a great success! These meetings are completely optional, but we were very appreciative of the number of students who were able to attend the meetings Information about the meeting will be shared by the homeroom teachers. Check Google Classroom or Seesaw for details. Art Mrs. Richardson love’s to see what you are creating! sharing your creations! Email Mrs. Richardson at hrichardson@rtmsd.org or scroll to the bottom of your project page to use an Art Submission Form. Feel free to challenge yourself and work at an advanced grade level or to help younger siblings with their work. Here is a list of the weekly activities found on the art encore page: First graders create a plate portrait. Second graders learn about and create Indonesian art. Third graders create an absurd assemblage. Fourth graders create a picture with movement in the manner of Keith Haring. Fifth graders create a tessellation in the manner of MC Esher. Library In this week’s library activities explore NSTA eBooks interactive STEM stories to read, learn about and complete STEM activities. Choose a Design Squad Global Activity to complete at home. Participate in our “Magnificent Thing” Flipgrid topic. The district’s teacher-librarians are looking forward to seeing first grade this week! Music Ms. Williams hopes you have had an opportunity to try out the music activities provided this week. 1st Grade: Little Red Hen will be guiding students through an introduction to the instruments of the orchestra. 2nd Grade: Students will participate in activities to meet the Woodwind Family of instruments. 3rd Grade: Students will create homemade Native American instruments. 4th Grade: Students will go on a sound walk, exploring different timbres of their environments. 5th Grade: Students can use the web-based app Superlooper to create an original song. Physical Education Please feel free to participate in our Physical Education activities. Our focus this week is: Dance. Our warm-up choices for the week include: Hamster Dance Fitness & a Tic-Tac- Toe Relay. Our activity choices for the week include: Teacher Led Dances, a variety of TikTok dances, and a few Online Dance Along Tutorials. Have fun! Contact the RTMSD technology by completing a RTMSD Help Desk Form PTG News Message from Circle of Giving 2020 We are tremendously grateful for the outpouring of support, financial and otherwise, we have received from our school district community when Circle of Giving 2020, originally named Helping Families in Need 2020, began just six weeks ago. With your support, we have been
able to provide 71 district families with $300 grocery gift cards, and then deliver weekly, full meals, $100 Acme gift cards, and two masks to 10 RTMSD families on a rotating basis. Unfortunately, the global pandemic will continue to impact our district families. Circle of Giving 2020 will continue to facilitate weekly deliveries to RTMSD families as long as we have the funds available to do so. Today, we are announcing an RTMSD family only raffle to benefit our RTMSD community members who are in need. Raffle 1: 30 rolls of Costco toilet paper, a Philadelphia Eagles face mask, and a can of Lysol. Raffle 2: 12 rolls of paper towels, a box of Costco extra large baby wipes, a Philadelphia Eagles face mask and a can of Lysol. Raffle tickets are $5.00 per chance and the deadline for entries is Sunday, May 10th, 8:00 pm EDT. Two winners will be drawn on Sunday evening after 8 pm and the prize will be delivered to the winners on Monday. To Purchase a Raffle: Venmo us at @circleofgiving. In the Venmo comment section, please let us know your first and last name, how many raffle chances you would like to purchase and the best way to contact you. If you do not have a Venmo account please email circleofgiving2020@gmail.com to arrange for payment of raffle tickets. All proceeds will directly benefit RTMSD families in need.
