Please see flyer over page for details about the water system. We are very fortunate to be receiving this amazing resource. They will also be aiming to chat to some community members also. This has been organised in conjunction with Walhallow Aboriginal Land Council and Jason Allan. Easter Raffle Thank you to the families who have donated towards our P&C Easter Raffle. Tickets went home yesterday and prizes look fantastic, keep them coming! Many thanks. More tickets are available from the office. Congratulations to Mrs Harris Mrs Harris was in Sydney last week, attending training from the Stronger Smarter Institute. All reports are that the training was amazing and she cannot wait to start her project. The Yurrandaali (Goanna) Room To help develop our understanding of texts we have been playing Tic Tac Toe to see how many different connections we can make between texts. Tash from TFSS teaching us how to be strong and confident We love reading in our room Students learning Students learning the recorder Working on our about the violin as with Mr Garrett computer skills with a stringed Mrs Harris instrument The Bandaarr (Grey Kangaroo) Room When Jalii brought in a baby tree frog she found at home, we were keen to investigate. Over the last few days we have read stories about frogs, looked at lifecycles of frogs, sang songs about frogs, played games about frogs, written information reports about frogs, published stories about frogs, painted or drawn frogs (Jalii gave the students a directed drawing lesson - she makes a wonderful teacher) and made jelly ponds with chocolate frogs and written matching procedures. What a great few days of student led and self directed learning. Address: Mooki River, Caroona/ Ph: 02 6747 4717/ Fax: 02 6747 4800/ Email: walhallow-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au
This fortnight during Yuluwirri we have focused on developing our fine motor skills through art, craft and outside activities. Our follow up activity was threading. Kamahli focused really hard as she used the string to thread her very own bracelet. Colour recognition has also been a focus this term. We have read the colours book and found objects around the room that correlated with each coloured page. We then used our knowledge of colours to develop our understanding of mixing colours. We used the primary colours and watched as they begin to mix together to make new colours. Please feel free to come and join us each Monday morning for 9.30 to 11am. We would love to see you all! SCHOOL UNIFORM School Uniform Policy The wearing of school uniform promotes a sense of belonging for students and creates a positive identity for the school community. School uniforms also contribute to the personal safety of students by allowing easier recognition of students inside the school and in the community. It is expected that students wear the uniform during school hours, while travelling to and from school, and when engaged in school activities out of school hours. Girls Uniform Boys Uniform Maroon Hat Maroon Hat Blue Polo Shirt Blue Polo Shirt Maroon Shorts Grey Shorts White Socks Grey Socks Black Shoes Black Shoes Now the weather is cooler, jumpers and jackets are to be maroon. and News from our P&C and Community AGM Monday, 22nd of March in school grounds at 2pm. All welcome. Solar Water Scheme by Penny Appeal Australia - See flyer over page for more details Penny Appeal Australia will be visiting Walhallow Community in the coming weeks. This is the organisation that have kindly installed the water filtration system in the community. They have a few aims for the visit. To report to the specific donor for this project and develop a video that he will be able to promote to his audience; to report to our own audience and supporters in Australia, and show them the sort of projects we are hoping to continue with in future; and finally to engage our staff and volunteers with some of the people that they work to support. We do hope that this can be a launchpad for further work and support from our organisation and donors. We look forward to seeing you soon. Mark O’Bryan Head of Programs and Head of Marketing and Fundraising, Jasmin Ghandour from Penny Appeal Australia. Please bring in donations for our Easter Raffle Tickets sent home yesterday Money raised will go towards our 2021 excursion.
