Old School House A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to provide an innovative Sixth Form education in a truly inspirational space.
Be the Difference At Francis Holland School, Sloane Square, we provide an education which, not only prepares young women for a fast-changing, technological world, but which enables them to make, and to be, the difference in society. Social Enterprise and Collaboration What makes our school different is our emphasis on social enterprise. We have a mentoring programme to support our senior girls throughout their Sixth Form studies and Innovation Sprints, led by entrepreneurs-in-residence, which provide a framework for real-life business learning with, importantly, an emphasis on giving back. We collaborate with entrepreneurs in our community and network with a host of bright and passionate people who recognise the importance of changing the mindset of the next generation, of nurturing talent and compassion. As a result, our numbers are growing as families turn to us for this transformational education. In September 2019 we introduced a four-form entry at Year 7 and we have seen unprecedented numbers entering our Sixth Form, eager for an environment which promotes creativity, enterprise and innovation.
An Inspirational Space 178 Ebury St is an impressive three-storey Victorian building which backs directly onto our existing science wing. Originally a boys’ school, it has since been home to a builders’ merchant, a wine company and, most recently, a firm of architects. With the creation of direct access to our existing Grosvenor wing (whilst retaining its own entrance for our independent Sixth Formers) this beautiful, light and airy space is perfectly placed to provide the ideal backdrop for our new innovative Sixth Form centre. in which to Deliver our Vision Over the next five years, we anticipate that our school roll will rise by more than 100 pupils and we see the Old School House as the ideal environment in which to bring our vision to life, increasing our school footprint by 909m2 - an additional 15% of our existing area.
For Many Years we have Hoped to Acquire this Beautiful Building We are delighted that the Grosvenor Estate has at last agreed to grant us a lease on the Old School House and we have already appointed a firm of specialist school architects to transform the building from an office space into a creative Sixth Form centre. Work is now well under way and we look forward to opening the doors in September 2020. Our Governors have given their full support to the acquisition of the building, recognising a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to fulfil our vision of providing an innovative and entrepreneurial education in a truly inspirational space – providing a unique stepping stone to life beyond school.
This is a Transformative Project for our Whole Community The transformation of the Old School House into our new Sixth Form centre will also enable us to move our upper school pupils into the Centre for Creative Enterprise – providing them with their own inspiring and sophisticated environment for their new creative curriculum. Constant Evolution We are a dynamic school, constantly evolving and adapting to the needs of our pupils and the world around us and we value your involvement in the latest stage of our transformation.

Our New Challenge The Old School House will be equipped with its own science lab, a fitness suite and seminar rooms to reflect the specific requirements of Sixth Form class sizes. It will include independent study and reading areas, along with attractive social space and dining facilities. Breakout areas and refreshment stations around the building will facilitate mentoring from our business partners and we will seek to offer this wonderful space as a resource to the local community to foster collaboration and enterprise. The cost of redesigning the building and integrating it into the school is estimated to be in the region of £3.5m. The Governors are fully committed to the project and have agreed that Francis Holland Schools will underwrite the cost. The Development Office is seeking to raise at least £700,000, however, to ensure that the building offers our young women the transformative experience to which they aspire.
