Building Bridges Transforming Lives Power of Music Dublin & Limerick, Ireland | March 12-18, 2021 St. Patrick’s Day Parade & International Band Competition Come celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in true Irish style by taking your marching band to Dublin to participate in the prestigious Dublin St. Patrick’s Day Parade on March 17, 2021 as well as the Limerick International Band Parade and Competition held on March 14, 2021, in Limerick.
The Setting Dublin St. Patrick’s Day Parade Bands play a very important part in the St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations in Dublin and throughout the St. Patrick’s Festival itself. Bands from Ireland and around the world have thrilled audiences with their musical mastery and flair down through the years and we want you to be part of the future celebrations. The parade is attended by the President of Ireland and Lord Mayor of Dublin. The marching route is approximately 1.7 miles long and takes about 90 minutes to complete the parade route. The parade consists of marching bands, theatrical presentations and ceremonial elements. The parade is attended by over half a million people and viewed by millions of people all over the world. Limerick International Band Parade and Competition The Limerick International Band Parade and Competition is held on the Sunday closest to St. Patrick’s Day allowing your band to enjoy the festivities and participate in both the Dublin St. Patrick’s Day Parade and the Limerick International Band Parade and Competition. All participating international bands are highlighted in media releases and given a special welcome by the mayor and citizens of Limerick. The parade route is approximately .93 miles long down the main thoroughfare of O’Connell Street. We have designed an itinerary that includes time in Limerick where you can explore much of Ireland’s scenic West Coast. Perform International’s Artistic Team Jerry F. Junkin serves as the Artistic Director and Conductor of the Dallas Wind Symphony, as well as Director of Bands and the Frank C. Erwin, Jr. Centennial Professor of Music at the University of Texas at Austin, where he also holds the title of University Distinguished Teaching Professor. In 2003 he was appointed Music Director and Conductor of the Hong Kong Wind Philharmonia. The New York Times named the recent release on the Reference Recordings label with Jerry Junkin and The University of Texas Wind Ensemble, Bells for Stokowski, one of the best classical CDs of 2004. Professor Junkin became conductor of The University of Texas Wind Ensemble in the fall of 1988, following an appointment as Director of Bands at the University of South Florida. In Jerry F. Junkin addition to his responsibilities as Professor of Music and Conductor and Music Director of the UT Wind Ensemble, he serves as Head of the Conducting Division and teaches courses Artistic Director in conducting and wind band literature. He is a recipient of the Texas Excellence in Teaching of Bands, Perform awards, presented annually by the Ex-Student’s Association. International Jerry Junkin became the Artistic Director and Conductor of the Dallas Wind Symphony in the fall of 1993. Performances under the direction of Mr. Junkin have won the praise of such notable musicians as John Corigliano, David Del Tredici, Gunther Schuller, Karel Husa, William Kraft, Jacob Druckman and Michael Colgrass, among many others. In February of 2005 he led The University of Texas Wind Ensemble in the world premiere performance of Corigliano’s Circus Maximus: Symphony No. 3, in both Austin and New York’s Carnegie Hall. Maintaining an active schedule as a guest conductor, clinician and lecturer, Mr. Junkin has appeared in those capacities in forty-eight states and on five continents. In 2005 he was presented the Grainger Medallion by the International Percy Grainger Society.

Saturday, March 13, 2021 - Arrival Dublin / Limerick Arrive in Dublin and be greeted by the Perform International staff. Transfer to Limerick for dinner and overnight. Sunday, March 14, 2021 - Limerick Band Festival & Parade Today march in the Limerick International Band Festival and Competition Parade. Ireland’s oldest established band parade, it will be marking its 48th year in 2021. Overnight in Limerick. Monday, March 15, 2021 - Limerick / Dublin Transfer today from Limerick to Dublin with a stop en route to visit Bunratty Castle. Overnight in Dublin. Tuesday, March 16, 2021 - Dublin Sightseeing in Dublin including a visit to the Book of Kells exhibition at Trinity College, considered a “must see” for any visitor to Dublin. The afternoon will be unscheduled for you to enjoy at your leisure and prepare for next day’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Overnight in Dublin. Wednesday, March 17, 2021 - St. Patrick’s Day Parade - Dublin St. Patrick’s Day Parade at noon. You will be marching in the parade with bands from the U.S., Canada and Europe, cheered by over 500,000 parade watchers of all nationalities. Dinner and overnight in Dublin. Thursday, March 18, 2021 - Depart Dublin Departure from Dublin. Pre- and post-concert tours are available. Pre/Post Festival Tour Programs Optional pre- and post-tours for groups of 20 and more passengers are available including additional individual performance opportunities. All of PI’s pre/post tours are fully customized to each ensemble’s specific needs.
