LEARNING ACROSS THE CLASSES WITH MS STURMAN Year 1 and 2 have been learning about proper nouns and the importance of capital letters for these words. We are learning to spell the days of the week correctly and the progress made has been outstanding through perseverance and giving their best efforts. All students have made excellent progress. Here are their sentences this week. On Friday Beau, Max,Jamie and Evie went to Ladysmith to go bull riding. By Jamie On Sunday Mum and I went for a walk. By Isaiah Last Friday Phillip and Jordan went swimming. By Jordan Years 5 and 6 in maths have learnt the language used for the four operations. Finding the sum of numbers or the product is not hard but remembering what these words mean takes learning, and what about the word quotient? We are using Maths Journals this year which the students are very proud of.
LEARNING WITH MR GORDON This week in the primary class, we have started to look at the environment around us. We are beginning to read the book “My place”, and we discussed what the book may be about. Victoria – people’s houses. Matilda – where people live and looking at that places in history. Emily – where people live and how things have changed. The students then drew maps of Ladysmith and their houses. We will be looking at how the environment has changed and what the land is used for now. Here are some pictures of our maps. 10 Minutes before fruit break we go outside and stretch our legs. We have been seeing how far we can jump/step/hop. Mr P is showing us how it is done.
LEARNING WITH MRS D Welcome to the 2019 school year. K/1/2 have started the year running. Ms Sturman is working hard with the Yr 1/2 students for Literacy and STEM, and I am teaching the Kindergarten students for Literacy and the K/1/2 students for maths and STEM. So far Kinders are learning numbers up to 7, the sounds s, a, t, i, p and n and the routines of the school day. They have counted, sorted, chanted and read numbers. They are eager to complete tasks, work well together and I can see their skills developing already! Here are some pictures of the work they have done so far: This term we are hoping to use the garden for some of our measurement activities. On Wednes- day the class inspected the damage from a long hot summer and lots of weeds. We all got stuck in and hopefully the garden will be ready for activities next week. With Mr Archer’s help in sorting out our watering issues we hope to start planning and planting!
