Principal’s Report Alhamdulillah we are at the end of term 3 and teachers have worked in partnership with students and parents towards a common goal of maximising success for all students. The NAPLAN results have been sent out to all parents. A copy is held in the student file at the college as well. Our students must be commended on the excellent results received. Our year 3s and year 5s have all scored above the state average in all aspects of literacy and numeracy. Our year 7 and 9 have shown significant improvement in their test scores since 2016. In the recent publication of the Sunday Mail, there was an article about school ranking. It was pleasing to note that AIIC is the highest ranked Islamic school for performance in NAPLAN over the last 3 years. (2016 to 2018) Our Secondary College has been ranked 7th in Queensland for class improvement. This comparison is amongst all Queensland State and Private schools. This term was a very rewarding, educational and exciting one with all the events and activities held. Science Day, Haj Incursion, College Fete, Eid BBQ, Swimming and Various Sporting Activities, offered a variety of both academic and extra-curricular learning experiences for our students. Every day is not only a new day but another meeting with new challenges. I thank my staff and the parents in our college community who have supported the college through the trying times and helped in finding a positive solution and outcome. As always sharing ideas opens us all up to great possibilities. I thank all concerned, for your assistance, cooperation and understanding. All students have been assessed in class during the final two weeks of this term. As parents we should make sure that our children spend their time productively during the holiday period. During this break comes a very busy period of the year looking at reporting, staffing and timetabling towards preparation for 2019. I look forward to see your wonderful achievements from the beginning of term 4 through to the end of this academic year, Insha’Allah. I wish you all a restful break. KINDERGARTEN OPEN DAY The Australian International Islamic College Kindergarten Hosted its Annual Kindergarten Open Day on the 27th June 2018. The Kindergarten has recently relocated within the school grounds and is currently occupying a full capacity of students. The aim for our Open Day is to connect families within the Islamic Community who may have children under 5 to enjoy a good day out whilst exploring the Kindergarten facilities. This has helped parents network with other parents and share their views about the importance of Early Childhood Education. Through this Open Day we are able to inform parents of how imperative a Kindergarten Program is to prepare children in the early years for a great transition into a formal school setting. Kindergarten is not just about play. Children actually learn a great deal with experimenting in their play. This includes building confidence and identity in a small child and allowing them to make inferences about the world around them. We look forward to continuing to service our Islamic Community with a Kindergarten that promotes equality in learning and instills a positive Islamic Identity in our children. Enrolments now open for 2019! Please contact school office for further information.
