What are Personal and Professional Skills? Believe. Inspire. Succeed. FIVE CENTRAL THEMES • Personal Development ü Self Management, self awareness, relationship management • Intercultural ü Cultural identity, cultural diversity, intercultural Understanding engagement • Effective Communication ü Interpersonal skills, literacies, self expression • Thinking Processes ü Critical thinking, creative thinking, application of thinking • Applied Ethics ü Ethical dilemmas, case studies in applied ethics, professional ethics
What is Language Development? • Aim is for multicultural fluency • Students complete a minimum of 50 hours learning a language that is not their strongest • Students develop language and cultural understanding • Students choose from German, French or Spanish for business
What is Service Learning? • Students complete a minimum of 50 ü Dachauer Tafel (food kitchen) hours of service learning ü Dachau Refugee Camp • Identify own strengths and develop areas for ü Schoenbrunn (working with the growth mentally handicapped) • Demonstrate participation with service ü Unterschleissheim Kinderhort ü Young Life learning experiences ü Kids club supervision • Demonstrate the skills and recognize the ü Service projects designed and benefits of working collaboratively created by students themselves • Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance • Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions
What is the Reflective Project? • A research project into an ethical dilemma associated with business and business practices • Choice of presentation • 3000 word research essay OR • 1500 word essay and short film/oral/presentation
What is the Career related study? Pearson BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in Business • Equivalent to one GCE A level • Students complete 60 credits • Students complete 40 mandatory credits • The Business Environment • Business Resources "BTEC courses give you real, hands-on • Introduction to Marketing experience. Work placements • Students undertaking the IBCP will complete work placements at various times of the year- timings are TBA • Work placements are arranged by students themselves (much like work experience in Grade 10) with the support of the school • Work placements are designed to complement the students’ interests, career related study (Business) and strengths • Work placements could include industries Munich is renowned for such as: • Technology: biotech, environmental • Hospitality and travel • Travel • Mechanical- auto, aeronautical • Communications • Sport

What about the IB Diploma courses? • Students at BIS will complete 2 mandatory DP subjects: • ENGLISH A or B either at HL or SL • MATHS- either MATHEMATICAL STUDIES (SL) or MATHEMATICS SL • Students can select 1 DP subject option at either HL or SL: • GROUP 4 SCIENCES • Computer Science, ESS, Design technology (*) • GROUP 6 ELECTIVES and SOME HUMANITIES • Theatre, Visual Arts, Music, Geography, History (*), Economics (*) • CP students will be timetabled with the DP students in these classes. (*) subject to availability and only after consultation with mentors and coordinators

University Progression in the UK The University of Southampton is the first Russell Group University to officially recognise the International Baccalaureate (IB) Career-related Programme (CP). This is in recognition of how the programme prepares its students for university and its value within the UK education system.
